Working meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Capital Investment

Today, the Dean of the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor, assoc. prof. Špiro Ivošević, PhD, with his associates, received the State Secretary for Transport in the Ministry of Capital Investments, Zoran Radunović and Snežana Đurković, coordinator of the Directorate for Maritime Transport and Inland Navigation.

In a cordial and constructive conversation, they exchanged views on many issues in the field of maritime affairs, education and training of seafarers, legal regulations, and further activities of faculties and line ministries as entities dealing with maritime affairs as a significant branch of the economy. , with a centuries - old maritime tradition, internationally known and recognized.

The Dean briefed the guests on the current situation at the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor, the specifics of education and training of seafarers, the obligations of the faculty in the context of compliance with domestic and international regulations in this area, and the need to connect with ministries of education and maritime affairs.

From the position of State Secretary in the Ministry of Capital Investments, Zoran Radunović referred to the fact that the said ministry works diligently in the field of maritime affairs, and that in that area and in the field of transport, there are many jobs and activities to be implemented in order to improve the entire system.

Snežana Đurković, coordinator for maritime traffic and inland navigation, emphasized the long-term mostly successful cooperation between the former Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Transport and the Maritime Faculty of Kotor, in the field of education and training of seafarers, and monitoring international and domestic regulations in that area.

Vice-Dean for Innovation and Development assoc. prof. Tatijana Dlabač, PhD presented the work of the Seafarers' Training Center to the guests, and pointed out certain issues in this area that require urgent and joint solutions.

The guests briefly presented some important guidelines for future activities in the development of maritime affairs in order to amend existing laws and regulations, in accordance with international trends in maritime affairs and the requirements that each maritime state must meet. Also, unreserved support was expressed for the activities of the Faculty of Maritime Studies in Kotor, which were presented at the meeting.

The hosts and guests jointly concluded that it is necessary to form a working team that would immediately start with the amendments to the current Ordinance on the types of titles and authorizations, conditions for acquiring titles and authorizations for ship's crew members. Also, it was stated that the Acting Rector of the University of Montenegro should be informed about the mentioned and other topics and a meeting should be planned with him.

The interlocutors were pleased to define a common idea of ​​concluding a memorandum of understanding or cooperation between the two entities that would specify their joint activities and goals in the field of maritime affairs, education, training and other issues within their competences.
