Best Student of the Faculty of Dramatic Arts, Sara Joksimović, Sends a Message: Choose for Yourselves and Be True to Who You Are

“Choose for yourselves and be true to who you are, no matter how much it may sound like a cliché,” is the message Sara Joksimović sends to students. She has been named the Best Student of the Faculty of Dramatic Arts at the University of Montenegro for the 2025/2026 academic year.

A student of the Film and Media study program, Sara was proclaimed the best student of the Faculty of Dramatic Arts with an outstanding grade point average of 9.97. The University Award was presented to her by the Rector of the University of Montenegro, Vladimir Božović, PhD.

Born in Berane, Sara has been surrounded by art from an early age. She writes poetry, practices photography, and enjoys singing, and she has had the opportunity to present her artistic sensibility to the public through poetry readings at cultural events and performances as a member of the City Mixed Choir.

While still in high school, she won an award for young writers, as well as recognition for best on-stage partnership at the Drama Festival in Berane, during a performance in an amateur theatre production. As she says, the decision to enrol in an arts academy was a logical step:

“As someone who was constantly exposed to art while growing up, the choice came naturally.” She chose the Film and Media study program because of her love for film and writing, and during her studies, the experience that stood out the most was the filming of her first short feature film, Lesnik.

“The entire process, but especially the shooting day itself and the emotional ending of that day, have remained deeply etched in my memory,” Sara emphasizes. Speaking about the challenges she faced during her studies, she notes that they were primarily personal in nature—focused on personal growth, communication, getting to know herself better, as well as recognizing true friends and good colleagues.

She expresses special gratitude to her screenwriting professors, whose support and constructive criticism led her to choose the Screenwriting module in her third year of studies. “The kind words I still remember gave me the wind at my back,” she adds.

Among the recognitions she has received during her studies, Sara also highlights the Annual Student Award of the Royal Capital of Cetinje. When asked what she is most proud of, she answers simply and sincerely—her overall work to date. In the period ahead, she is preparing to graduate, followed by the continuation of her studies and further professional development in the field of film and screenwriting.
