Rhetoric Competition of Students from Faculties of Law of the University of Montenegro
I rhetoric competition of students from faculties of law of universities of Montenegro was held in the grand amphitheatre at the Faculty of Law of the UoM.
Students of I, II, III and IV year of law faculties of the UoM, University Donja Gorica and Mediterranean University had the right to compete.
According to decision of competition organizers, competitors were allowed to present themselves to audience and jury with topic of choice, which implies their freedom to perform already existing subject or to write their own oration.
Seven-members jury in the following composition assessed competitors:
Mr. Tomislav Dedic, Lawyer and President of the Judicial Panel;
Mrs. Vesna Medenica, President of the Supreme Court of Montenegro;
Mr. Boris Savic, President of the High Court in Podgorica;
Mr. Zoran Radovic, President of the Basic Court in Podgorica;
Mr. Zdravko Begovic, President of Montenegro Bar Association;
Mr. Rejhan Kurtovic, Dean of the International University;
Mrs. Branka Femic, actress;
On the other hand, the audience had the right to choose their favourite.
13 male and female competitors presented themselves at the competition, before the full amphitheatre. They spoke on various topics and encouraged constructive and critical deliberation on the reality surrounding us. We had the opportunity to hear about: the personality in the 21st century, the rights and position of women in Montenegrin society, as well as the scene of global politics, the importance of academic integrity, the issue of the brain drain that our country faces, etc.
The Faculty of Law of the University of Montenegro provided suitable awards for the best with pleasure:
- I prize - 200 €
- II prize - 100 €
- III prize - 50 €
- Special award from the audience who had the opportunity to choose their favourite amounted to 100 €.
The following are winners:
I place by decision of the jury: Nikolina Tomovic, a student of the Law Faculty of the UCG, who presented herself with author oration titled ‘Transcribing’.
II place by the decision of the jury: Ksenija Bakovic, a student of the Law School of UCG, who represented herself as "Defense before the court" by Milko Kovacevic.
III place by decision of the jury: Mirko Stojkanovic, a student of the Law Faculty of the UCG, who presented himself with author oration titled ‘We Ruin Future by Leaving’.
Audience favourite: Ksenija Bakovic.
