On the Faculty of Law Almost Doubled Number of Applications in Relation to Foreseen Number

Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Montenegro, Aneta Spaić, PhD, said that this year's interest of candidates for enrollment at the Faculty of Law was significantly higher than in the previous academic year, although enrollment was conducted in a specific way and in special circumstances.
"Almost 50% more than advertised places were reported, and 30% more than last year. Specifically, compared to last year, when 263 candidates applied, this year 391 candidates applied, of which 321 candidates were confirmed. Increased interest in enrolling at the Faculty of Law of the University of Montenegro is not only result of the current corona epidemic but better and more diverse education that our students receive during their studies, on one hand, and the growing attractiveness of legal profession in Montenegro, which we have witnessed in recent years.
The competition for Legal Sciences provided for 240 places for enrollment, which, due to the application of measures against the spread of the COVID 19 virus, was done electronically. According to Dean Spaić, the enrollment went smoothly, with significant support of the technical and student service of the faculty and the University of Montenegro.
When it comes to response of high school students, she stated that out of the total number of applicants, as many as 59 candidates have a Luča diploma.
"Traditionally, most candidates have finished high school and economics school, which, with due respect for vocational high schools, give the widest education to young people. This circumstance is, in fact, of special importance for the education of a lawyer, since the condition is for someone to be a good lawyer, among other things, to have a broad education in all spheres of life and science, especially in the field of social sciences. This is something to which we attach great importance in the conception of the educational process at our faculty, “Spaić said.
She believes that a small number of candidates, if any, were unsuccessful in the electronic application, since younger generations are extremely computer literate.
"However, the Faculty of Law also took care of them, leaving additional time for submitters of the incomplete electronic application to complete it in a timely manner. In the light of that, we believe that we did everything in our power, while respecting procedure established by the law and regulations of the University of Montenegro. Of course, our doors are always open and we are ready to lend a helping hand to each candidate ", Spaić concluded.
