Practical Training at Hotel ‘Splendid‘
Second year students of the academic study program Maritime Electrical Engineering, within practical training from the subject Boat measurements had the chance to visit the Hotel ‘’Splendid’’, which belongs to the Montenegro Stars Hotels Group together with Tatijana Dlabac, Associate professor, the Chairperson of the study program Maritime Engineering and associates Milovan Unkovic, MSc, and Zeljko Pekic on May 17th, 2019.
Students visited Command and Control Center where Sonja Perovic Seferovic, the Chairperson, presented the system of automatic control and management of technical systems of hotel:
- Air conditioning and ventilation (34 air chambers, four substations, nine powerhouses);
- Chemical preparation of water ( the central drinking water treatment, water treatment for cooling systems and steam boiler, water treatment for laundry and for the purposes of the kitchen);
- Boiler system ( boiler production of sanitary hot water as well as saturated steam) and
- Management of auxiliary power system with electric energy (substation and diesel-aggregates).
Special attention was on the presentation of the work of automatic detection of fire alarm system and the systems that are in the function of fire protection. Dusan Sekulic, MSc, Associate at the fire protection, explained in details the work of PP headquarters, showed the fire detectors and manual fire alarms, as well as implemented a test simulation of fire and reaction in that situation. Students had the opportunity to see the systems that are in the function of fire protection (overpressure ventilation, smoke extraction, fire extinguishing systems with Inergen and aerosols, the automatic detection of LPG). Students also visited Sprinkler station after the presentation mentioned.
Sprinkler station is presented as stabile installation for fire-extinguishing with water and as such it is one of the most successful installations for firefighting. Colleague Sekulic explained the working principle of installation that uses a water spray jet, during the presentation. He also presented dry and wet Sprinkler installation.
Lunch has been prepared to students and teachers, what is the custom of the best hosts, after the presentation of the mentioned systems.
On this occasion, we would like to thank to Zarko Radulovic, the Chairperson, Milan Vukovic, Executive director, Dragan Markovic, Technical director, Sonja Perovic Seferovic, Technical Director Assistant and Dusan Sekulic, MSc, Professional Associate of fire protection for the warm welcome and excellent presentations of technical systems of the hotel ‘’Splendid’’, which improved the practical training implemented at the study program Maritime Electrical Engineering of the Maritime Faculty of Kotor.
