When students pass this exam they are expected to know and be able to do the following: 1) get acquainted with general biographical facts of Aldous Huxley's life; 2) have an insight into the nature of two distinct phases of Huxley's work; 3) discern the main themes Huxley dealt with in his early and late periods; 4) get introduced to the most important texts from Huxley's opus; 5) appreciate the reach and universality of Huxley's ideas; 6) choose a topic with a personal interest from the encyclopedic array of themes dealt with in Huxley's fictional and discursive prose, as well as poetry and drama, with an aim of choosing an appropriate theme for the master's thesis
