Best Student of the Faculty of Medicine – Iva Đuričković

The best student of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Montenegro for the 2025/2026 academic year, with a grade point average A (9.91), is Iva Đuričković, a Pharmacy student. The award was presented to her by the UoM Rector, Vladimir Božović, PhD, at a recent ceremony held at the Rectorate.

Iva was born in Podgorica, where she completed the Secondary Medical School – Pharmaceutical Technician program. During high school, she won third place at the national chemistry competition and participated in the 53rd International Chemistry Olympiad. She graduated as valedictorian. Afterwards, she enrolled at the Faculty of Medicine – Pharmacy study program.

“I chose pharmacy because I have always been fascinated by how a medicine can precisely identify and eliminate a health problem. I wanted to understand the processes behind it and to contribute to people’s health through knowledge about medications.”

During her studies, she received several annual awards from the Faculty of Medicine and was a scholarship recipient of the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation for top students every year.

She plans to continue her education through a professional specialization in an area that inspires her most, such as clinical pharmacy or biochemistry, as well as by pursuing doctoral studies.

Her peers describe her as someone who puts in maximum effort, readily helps others, and stays motivated even in the most demanding moments. Iva emphasizes that success requires numerous sacrifices: “I had to set aside many hobbies, sports activities, and some social events, and holidays often passed with my books. It wasn’t easy, but every sacrifice brought me closer to my goal. Today, I look back on that period with pride, because discipline, persistence, and willingness to sacrifice were the key to my success.”

She also expresses gratitude to her professors who, as she says, inspired her with their knowledge and dedication and provided guidance for overcoming challenges and developing professional skills.

“This award is the greatest recognition I have received so far and an encouragement to continue learning and growing professionally.”

Her message to future students: “Your studies are not just a diploma, but the shaping of the person you will become. Set your goals and work hard—genuine desire for progress always pays off.”
