Celebrating 64 Years of the Existence of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Montenegro
The Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Montenegro ceremonially celebrated 64 years of its existence, bringing together professors, students, alumni, associates, and representatives of partner companies.
On behalf of the administration, the attendees were addressed by the Dean, Budimir Lutovac, PhD, who emphasized that over six decades, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering has become a pillar of technological progress and a reliable partner to industry, the academic community, and society. Speaking about the Faculty’s achievements, he highlighted significant international projects, modernization of laboratories, high level of scientific research, and successes of students and faculty members. He stressed that the Faculty’s mission is to remain a center of excellence and innovation. “The future of the Faculty depends on the vision we build together, on our readiness to adapt to modern challenges, and to boldly enter new fields of science and technology,” Dean Lutovac stated.
He particularly emphasized the role and value of the students, noting that they are “the reason for the Faculty’s existence, its inspiration, and driving force.” He added that their achievements are the best indicator of the Faculty’s quality of work and that it is precisely student dedication that continually motivates the Faculty of Electrical Engineering to improve its study programs, strengthen practical teaching, and encourage the development of competencies aligned with modern technological trends.
Traditionally, as part of the jubilee celebration, the dean presented gifts to colleagues retiring this year, as a token of recognition for decades of dedicated work, commitment to students, and contribution to the development of the academic community and the Faculty. Awards were presented to: Milica Pejanović Đurišić, PhD, Zoran Mijanović, PhD, and administrative staff member Verica Saičić.
On behalf of the awarded colleagues, Milica Pejanović Đurišić, PhD, addressed the audience, expressing gratitude to the Faculty for many years of cooperation and support, and highlighting the importance of continuity in the development of the academic community. She encouraged younger generations of teaching staff to responsibly and devotedly continue building the Faculty, strengthening the quality of studies, and preserving values upon which the Faculty of Electrical Engineering has been built for more than half a century.
A special part of the program was dedicated to awarding the best students, supported once again this year by the company COREIT, which rewarded outstanding academic achievements with a monetary prize of 500 euros each. Awards were given to: Viktor Peruničić and Bojan Petranović from the Energy and Automation program, both with a GPA of 10.00; Lazar Božović from the Electronics, Telecommunications, and Computers program with a GPA of 9.69; and Miloš Marojević from the Applied Computing program with a GPA of 9.72.
On behalf of the award recipients, Lazar Božović expressed gratitude and emphasized the importance of the support and knowledge provided by the Faculty, noting that the recognition will serve as motivation for their further development and professional growth.
The Dean’s Special Award was presented to the President of the Student Organization of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Aleksa Pavlićević, who, through his dedicated work, numerous initiatives, and proactive approach, has represented the students with distinction at all levels. Thanks to his continuous efforts, cooperation between students and the Faculty has been strengthened, along with the standards associated with fulfilling this important student role.
The ceremony concluded with a cocktail reception and social gathering, with a message that the Faculty of Electrical Engineering remains a community of knowledge, innovation, and people whose work and enthusiasm contribute to progress of society.
