On Wednesday, June 29, 2022, the Maritime Faculty of Kotor had the pleasure of hosting representatives of the Adriatic 42 company. The company represents a consortium consisting of Adriatic Marinas - Porto Montenegro and DryDocks World from Dubai, which aims to renovate and transform the former shipyard in Bijela to the most modern facility for overhaul and maintenance of superyachts.

The new shipyard for the overhaul of superyachts is located in the Boka Kotor Bay of Montenegro, at the location of the former Bijela shipyard, in one of the safest natural harbors in the world. The shipyard is undergoing a comprehensive redesign that will transform it into a premier superyacht refit and maintenance facility, making it a place where a team of experienced and knowledgeable yacht experts will provide services to the highest quality standards.

On behalf of the host, the dean of the Kotor Maritime Faculty, Špiro Ivošević, PhD, presented guests with basic information about the Faculty, especially regarding the connection of students and the educational system with the economy, internationalization and international cooperation, projects, as well as wishes and ideas regarding the possibilities of future cooperation.

The executive director of the Adriatic 42 company, Mr. Paul John Gray, presented his experience in the aviation and maritime industry, as well as current and planned activities related to the formation of the necessary infrastructure. He also emphasized the managements desire and intention to focus as much as possible on local experts and supporting workforce, while connecting with experts from renowned companies and institutions from abroad. Considering the long-term plans of the company, as well as the Faculty, a large number of questions are open regarding the possibilities of future modules of education and training of quality staff for modern vessel overhaul and maintenance.

Also, both parties agreed on the possibilities of promoting the company through guest lectures, events organized by the Faculty and visits to the shipyard. A return visit by a representative of the Faculty was also agreed upon, with the willingness to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation, which could subsequently be expanded in terms of new forms of cooperation. The guests had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the technical resources of the Faculty, especially with simulators, laboratories and other provided and planned equipment that could be the basis for certain areas of cooperation and future joint projects. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Milan Bošković, who is in charge of Adriatic 42s relations with clients, and Dr. Zorica Đurović, head of the Maritime Faculty of Kotor.
