The Biotechnical Faculty received valuable mechanization and equipment through the MIDAS 2 program

Agricultural machinery and equipment for the wine cellar worth 47,500 euros were procured at the Experimental Estate of the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Montenegro, through funds from the MIDAS 2 program of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management. The handover of the equipment took place on Friday, April 23, when the Minister of Agriculture, Aleksandar Stijović, MSc, and the Dean, full prof. Božidarka Marković, PhD, signed the Certificate of Handover.

During the visit, Dean Markovic acquainted Minister Stijovic with the available resources and the importance of the Experimental Estate in the development of Montenegrin viticulture and winemaking during its almost seventy years of existence, in scientific research, and today in the teaching and educational process, knowledge transfer to producers and the like. , as well as current activities and future plans. About the represented assortment of vines and products, technology of wine and brandy production on the Experimental Estate, the information was announced by assoc. prof. Radmila Pajović Šćepanović, PhD.

In addition to Minister Stijović, the handover of the equipment was attended by representatives of the MIDAS project, as well as the companies Agroauto and Enovitis, who delivered and put into operation the said equipment.

The BTF Experimental estate is now equipped with a complete line of agricultural machinery (fruit-vineyard tractor with trailer, fruit-vineyard plow for inter-row cultivation, inter-row vibro cultivator, mulcher, mounted atomizer, weed treatment device), and a vinifier with chiller was purchased for the wine cellar for controlled wine fermentation, brandy filtration and bottling system and semi-automatic labeller. The total value of the donation is 47,500 euros.

After the visit to the Experimental Estate, at a working meeting at the Faculty, Minister Stijović discussed numerous activities that are jointly implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management and the Biotechnical Faculty. The most current topic was the upgrade of the floor on the existing building of the Faculty in order to establish the National Reference Laboratory for Plant Protection, which will also represent the improvement of the overall space capacity for the needs of the Faculty. The preparation of project documentation for this upgrade is in the final stage.

The meeting also discussed the modalities for improving the functioning of the Dairy Laboratory, which has been operating within the Biotechnical Faculty for almost 20 years and is financed from the Ministry.

They also talked about other forms of cooperation and the possibilities of its intensification, especially in the domain of more active involvement of the Faculty in the development of strategic and program documents for the field of agriculture and other important projects.
