Practical Knowledge for Private Business for Incoming High School Graduates at the Biotechnical Faculty

Agriculture, agribusiness, food safety represent a big chance and privilege for young people, but also require specific knowledge, intensive work and numerous renunciations, according to Vice-dean for lecture at the Biotechnical faculty of the University of Montenegro, Aleksandra Despotovic.

All capacities announced by the Competition were fulfilled at the Biotechnical Faculty in the last six years.

Vice-dean Despotovic states that the Competition for the first year of undergraduate studies in academic 2019/2020n will be announced for academic study programs- Plant production and Animal production, as well as for applied studies- Mediterranean fruit growing and Continental fruit growing and herbs

‘So far, enrolment at the Biotechnical Faculty was available to graduates of gymnasiums and specialized schools as well. Subjects, presenting background for lecture at the Biotechnical Faculty: Biology and Chemistry, are scored at enrolment’, Despotovic states.

In the previous period, an enviable interest in enrolment at undergraduate studies of the Biotechnical Faculty was recorded during the previous period.

‘The privilege of high school graduates enrolled at the Biotechnical Faculty mirrors in acquiring practical knowledge, skills and possibilities of their application in a private business. Agriculture is one of strategic industries of Montenegrin development, therefore, the necessity for a staff to be educated at our Faculty will continue in the next period. One of our goals is to encourage young people to develop entrepreneurial ideas, their implementation, all for the purpose of self-employment’, Despotovic says

Teaching staff at the Faculty applies contemporary teaching methods, and practices are implemented in modernly equipped laboratories.

‘Practical lecture is conducted at experimental properties in Podgorica and Bar within subjects through professional visits to business entities the Biological Faculty cooperates with successfully. Students may be actively involved in scientific and research projects of the Faculty. In support of this, quality scientific and research infrastructure providing linking and association to the European prominent centers’, Despotovic emphasizes.

She states that the Faculty possesses a significant teaching and research potential which provides chances for further implementation of the European level of lecture, a high quality level of research and innovations through their direct transfer towards business and economic environment.

‘Food production is a demanding and humane assignment requiring participation of human and material resources. We should all work on promotion and provision of quality, education of quality young staff ready for new European challenges’, Despotovic concludes.
