Dean Markovic: Eight Master Programs at the Biotechnical Faculty Accredited

At the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Montenegro, the 2017 study reform and implementation of three-level study model (3 + 2 + 3) have accredited eight master study programs in total. This year, the first generation of master students is enrolled according to the reformed study model, which will be free of charge.

Dean of the Faculty Božidarka Marković, PhD, states that these are academic master programs: Fruit Growing, Viticulture Imageand Winemaking, Fruit and Vegetable growing, Herbal Protection and Technologies in Animal Production, two interdisciplinary master academic programs Agribusiness and Rural Development and Food Safety and two applied master study programs Continental Fruit Growing and Medicinal Plants in Bijelo Polje and Nursery in Bar.

"Interest in enrolling in two-year master studies is shown by almost all students who are completing undergraduate studies this year according to the reformed programs, as well as some students who have completed undergraduate or specialisation studies according to the old study model," said Dean Markovic.

The fact that the studies are free contributes to the good interest, she points out.

As she explained, students with completed undergraduate studies at the Biotechnical Faculty or other related faculties with 180 ECTS minimum will have the opportunity to enrol in master's study programs.

"For enrolment in master's studies, an admission exam will be organized in the form of a written test from two to three key scientific areas that are of special importance for a certain study program. Results achieved at the admission exam will carry up to 50% of the total number of points, and the other 50% of the points will be results achieved in undergraduate studies expressed through achievement index, " Dean Markovic said.

At the Faculty, she adds, preparation of questions and materials for admission exams will begin soon, and the Faculty Council has yet to decide on the proposal of the number of students for enrolment in two-year master's studies within the already obtained license.

"Apart from two-year master's studies, the Biotechnical Faculty will this year, in accordance with decisions of the University of Montenegro, organize enrolment in one-year master's studies and postgraduate specialisation studies, organized according to the old study program. The Faculty Council has yet to decide on the proposal of the number of students for enrolment in these studies, " Dean Markovic said.
