The Acting Rector of the University of Montenegro full. prof. Vladimir Božović, PhD

Full. prof. Vladimir Božović, PhD, was born in 1974, in Nikšić. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Computer Science at the Faculty of Science and Mathematics Podgorica and his postgraduate studies in Algebra at the Faculty of Mathematics in Belgrade, where he defended his MA thesis “The isomorphism problem for group rings” in 2003. After completing his studies, he was engaged as an assistant in teaching at the Faculty of Philosophy, Faculty of Economics and Faculty of Science and Mathematics of the University of Montenegro until 2004.

He attended doctoral studies in Mathematics and Cryptography at the Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in the USA, from 2004 to 2008, and achieved maximum average grade A. In late 2008, he defended his PhD thesis “Algebraic and combinatorial aspects of the factorization of groups”, mentored by the prominent algebraist and cryptograph Spyros Magliveras. During his doctoral studies he was engeged as an assistant in teaching and occasionally as a researcher in the Center for Cryptology and Information Security – CCIS, Boca Raton, USA. Within the aforementioned Center, he participated in numerous research projects in the field of biometrics and cryptography. After the thesis defense, he was engaged as a lecturer at the Florida Atlantic University within the Department of Mathematics until June 2009.

Of all the awards and acknowledgments he received during his educational and academic career, the only one that he perceives as the most valuable is the award for the best student of the “Stojan Cerović” high school in Nikšić.

After returning from the United States, he was again engaged at the University of Montenegro. He was elected as a docent in May 2010, as an associate professor in June 2015 and as a full professor at the University of Montenegro in June 2020. Since 2010 he has participated in numerous research projects and made a number of study visits to international university centers.

He is the president of the organizational board of the Montenegrin Symposium on Graphs, Informatics and Algebra – MESIGMA, as well as the president of the Joint Mathematical Meeting of Serbia and Montenegro.
