Montenegro and Armenia in joint projects for the development of science, education and culture

The Acting Rector of the University of Montenegro full prof. Vladimir Božović, PhD met today, at the Rectorate of UCG, with the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia in Montenegro, based in Prague, H.E. Ashot Hovakimian, PhD, on the occasion of talks on establishing cooperation in the field of education, science and culture.

The meeting was also attended by the Vice-Rectors of the University, full prof. Irena Orović, PhD, assoc. prof. Sanja Peković, PhD and full prof. Veselin Mićanović, PhD.

Rector Božović and vice-rectors presented the University of Montenegro, university units, areas of international bilateral and scientific cooperation, and expressed readiness and desire to establish cooperation with universities in Armenia, since that cooperation has not been established so far. Ambassador Hovakimian pointed out the rich historical connection between our two nations, reminded of the once very good student exchange program that left a deep mark on both cultures, and which could have a continuation in the form of establishing a friendship society of Montenegro and Armenia.

As Armenia recently signed a comprehensive agreement with the European Union, opportunities are opening up for joint scientific and mobility projects within European programs. With the mediation of the Embassy of Armenia, the organization of lectures that would be organized at the University of Montenegro in the field of science, education and culture is planned, and the possibility of realization of joint projects and events in the field of researching common historical moments and connections was especially emphasized. It is also planned to establish cooperation with leading state universities in Armenia, such as the University of Yerevan, in order to establish bilateral ties and further agreements on joint projects.
