Podgorica, PR press service – The Minister of Public Administration, Digital Society and the Media, Tamara Srzentić and the Rector of the University of Montenegro Vladimir Božović have signed today a Memorandum on Cooperation which will contribute significantly to further development and training in the field of digital technologies, education and all innovative activities.

Srzentić has said that she is extremely grateful that the University of Montenegro will be a partner of the state on its way of further digital transformation, and the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding opens the door for even closer and stronger collaboration.

“This is particularly important at the time when we have adopted the Digital Transformation Strategy which is the base for all digital activities in the future. The digital gap, insufficiently developed digital skills and lack of IT staff are present both in the private and public sector. We believe that all these are areas that require fast development, which is why enhancing digital skill and development of IT staff is of strategic importance”, Srzentić said.

She believes that through joint efforts better environment for the development of new professions and skills will be created, with an emphasis on some new disciplines and modern technologies that already exist and are being used in the world.

“We want as many young people as possible to stay in Montenegro, to educate themselves, to develop and contribute to better quality of life in our country”, Srzentić pointed out.

Vice Rector for Science and Research at the University of Montenegro, Irena Orovic, said that the signed Memorandum on Cooperation is not the beginning of cooperation, but it was preceded by months of intensive work on defining a joint plan i.e. platform for cooperation in digital transformation of the society, education in ICT technologies and joint  participation regarding digitization.

„With the representatives of the Ministry we have defined steps for future cooperation and this Memorandum is just a formal legal act defining future steps and obligations between partners. We will strive to implement all the steps so that a concrete model for education i.e. specialization is defined in the area of digital technologies and pre-qualification of a number of staff in order to enhance competencies in the segment of information-communication technologies“, Orović said.

She believes the Ministry of Public Administration, Digital Society and the Media is the focal point which will ensure better participation of the University in all actions that will be led by other ministries.

„In this manner we will achieve a new dimension of the University, and that is closer and more intensive cooperation with the social community, economic sector, especially in the field of ICT. We believe the University has full potential to participate in all the activities and initiatives. We will give full contribution to further development and training of our society in the field of digital technologies, education in all innovation activities” Orović said.
