Call of the International Atomic Energy Agency for Submission of Projects in the Cycle 2024/25

The International Atomic Energy Agency, based in Vienna, the Republic of Austria, has announced the start of preparations for a new Technical Cooperation Program for the period 2024-2025. With the mentioned Cooperation Program, the IAEA will support the member states through the approval of projects of national, regional and interregional character.

The program includes an overview of the process of new projects development, guidelines and criteria that must be met by all projects submitted for the above period of time, as well as the time period for their planning, submission, evaluation and approval. National projects are a category based on the identified needs of Member States (in line with IAEA activities) and must be based on the Country Program Framework (CPF). In case of Montenegro, the following priority areas have been defined: nuclear sciences and applications, sustainable development and the environment, human health, radiation protection, nuclear safety and security and human resources development.

According to the current procedure, the institution that manages the national project is obliged to provide financial participation at the level of 5% of the project value, and in case of procurement of larger equipment, additional funds need to be provided (funds are negotiated with IAEA).

 Regional projects must be based on appropriate strategies and plans for a specific region and must reflect the common needs of IAEA member countries from that region. Interregional projects basically provide support to member states through the organization of conferences, seminars and workshops for relevant priority areas. According to the standard procedures of the Agency, and in order to assist member countries in the preparation and finalization of projects, the International Atomic Energy Agency provides appropriate expert support as well as support through the organization of training for members of project teams. The guide for project preparation in the 2024-2025 cycle, with the time dynamics of activities, can be downloaded below.
