The head of the Center for Technology Transfer of the University of Montenegro, Ms. Srna Sudar, participated today (3.12.2021) in the first "Climagine" workshop held at the Regent Hotel in Tivat, which aim was implementation of the participatory process of drafting the Coastal Management Plan of Boka Kotorska. Ms. Sudar also facilitated the "Climagine" working sessions of the workshop and group work, so that all participants could contribute to developing a vision of the sustainability of the Bay of Kotor, as well as identifying key challenges and possible solutions.

The first "Climagine" workshop in Montenegro was opened by Ms. Ana Samardžić, Advisor for urbanisation to the Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro, Ms. Zeljka Škaričić, Director of PAP/RAC from Split, and Ivana Stojanović, Head of the Directorate for Integrated Coastal Zone Management in the Ministry of Ecology. This "Climagine" workshop brought together stakeholders from different sectors: decision makers at national and local level, institutions in charge of monitoring of the environment and climate change, managers of marine protected areas and coastal areas, port administration, civil society organizations and others.

"Climagine" methodology is a cycle of 5 workshops whose results support the development of the Coastal Management Plan of the Boka Kotorska. It is a participatory and horizontal methodology for designing a vision for the sustainable development of the area, which takes into account the specific challenges of climate variability and change in coastal areas in the ICZM process. Also, the "Climagine" process integrates local knowledge, preferences and solutions into planning documents, and builds a sense of ownership of the process that facilitates development and implementation. The emphasis in this process is on the political, legal, managerial, socio-economic and gender aspects of the Plan. The methodoogy has been developed by Plan Bleu and implemented / tested with PAP / RAC within the MedPartnership (tested in Šibenik-Knin County, Croatia and Kerkennah Archipelago, Tunisia).
