Campus of the University of Montenegro gets another green urban oasis

Campus of the University of Montenegro (area in the vicinity of the building of technical faculties) where Rector of the University,Prof. Dr. Vladimir Božović planted today the first sycamore trees, will be wealthier for a new green urban oasis covering the area of 25.000 m2.

Rector Božović said that this is a very important project of the University of Montenegro, and expressed his belief that this public area, where 30 sycamore trees are planted today, will provide humanized space not only to our students and employees, but also to all citizens of Podgorica, and will be recognized as the lungs of this part of the city.

„This project envisages a large area for park which is adequate to the size of the city, and had the potential to become the central park of Podgorica, together with other areas of the University campus“, he added.

Through the spatial design of green areas, the University of Montenegro works intensively on expanding the offer in the area of ecological recognition and deals with creation of pleasant ambience for all visitors of this part of the city, as Božović said.

„We believe that this, with the helping hand by our friends, alumni of the University of Montenegro, is really something that represents a big step forward in the life of our University “, he said and added that he will not at this moment point out all those who helped with the realiyation of the project, but will in a properly manner, when all activitied were finished.

The Minister of Ecology, Spatial Planning and City Planning, Prof. Dr. Ratko Mitrović was also at today’s action of planting, and he said that this is one of the examples of investing into prettier and healthier Montenegro, and, for sure, the area belonging to the University Campus will certainly be one of the most beautiful areas in Podgorica.

The park area in the vicinity of the building of technical faculties consists of designed green areas , lined with pedestrian paths and additional lighting. Within the following period, over 200 trees will be planted, along with other decorative undergrowth.
