Role of the University of Montenegro (UMNE) is to enrich society, educate it, raise it culturally, provide scientific knowledge, and success is the most beautiful face of the University and a confirmation that knowledge is a value in itself and the foundation of all progress.

Rector Vladimir Božović said that on the occasion of the UMNE Day, stating that day of founding of the University is the most important and solemn day, and that indicators of successful business are measurable.

"This year, perhaps for the first time, the requested budget funds for the next financial year have been fully accepted by the Government, but we always emphasize that greater investments are necessary for the development of science, for which we will continue to work even harder. UCG received over 2.5 million euros this year for investing in the modernization of faculties, and a procedure has been initiated for the construction of a residential and business building, with 9,000 square meters of new green space, which will try to solve a major existential issue of young university staff”, Božović stated.

He said that socially responsible role of the University and development of environmental awareness was shown through construction of a large university park of almost 30,000 square meters between building of technical faculties and student dormitories in Podgorica.

"Among other projects, I emphasize adaptation of the Central University Library, arranging the entrance hall of technical faculties, renovating part of the flat roof and interior of the Maritime Faculty, adapting interior of the library of the Medical Faculty, as well as the library of the Faculty of Science. The park in front of the Rectorate building was arranged, the roof was reconstructed, the carpentry was changed and the southern facade of the Faculty of Philosophy was arranged. A large number of amphitheaters in the building of technical faculties have been completely reconstructed, and I must especially emphasize exceptional results achieved by the FEE management, headed by Dean Sasa Mujovic. The FEE has exclusively reconstructed and modernized almost all its halls, laboratories and cabinets from donations, which are measured in hundreds of thousands of euros ", Božović stated.

As he pointed out, the government will enable the University to continue the construction of the Academy of Arts in Cetinje, upgrade the Faculty of Architecture in Podgorica, build the building of the Faculty of Philology in Niksic, arrange the Library of the Faculty of Law, reconstruct the UMNE heating plant, etc. "In the previous year, 15 bilateral agreements were signed between UMNE and higher education institutions abroad. Within the Erasmus + program, 22 new inter-institutional agreements were signed and 11 renewed. "We have abolished payment of tuition fees for doctoral studies to associates at the University and significantly reduced the amount of tuition fees for the same studies," Bozovic pointed out. He added that for the first time, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, electronic enrollment in all study programs of UCG was fully implemented. "We have provided our students with free use of the European Youth Card, as well as three years of free access to the Jobiri platform, which helps students in their job search and career development. We also emphasize the special award of the Council of Europe - the Award for Academic Integrity. We have strengthened the administrative capacity of the service in the Rectorate, especially in the segment of support for the development of student mobility and international projects, and we are on the verge of forming a company that will articulate the creative and innovative potential of the University in the form of concrete business ventures, “Bozovic said. He added that the Institute for Advanced Studies was established - a meeting place for various scientific disciplines. "We are especially pleased to have established and shown openness to dialogue and exchange of professional and professional opinions on various social topics through the organization of regular public university forums. In this way, we have returned to the University its place - the one where one speaks freely, expresses attitudes, criticisms, in an academically and professionally based way ", Božović said. According to him, the role of the University is to enrich the society in several directions - to educate it, raise it culturally and provide scientific knowledge. "Knowledge is the most valuable asset of our society, so I congratulate you on your scientific achievements and the career you have chosen. Doctoral students were promoted at today's ceremony: Avni Alidemaj, Stefan Vujović, Branko Andjić, Sladjana Gvozdenović Nikolić, Sandra Jokanović Milica Kankaraš, Marina Kavarić, Nikoleta Sjekloća, Jovana Đurčević, Zorica Đurović, Jelena Mrkaić, Martin Bojaj, Biljana Mićković, Jeton Havoli Banjevic and Gentiana Beca-Aahmeti. Marija Došljak, Ana Ivanović, Lenka Lalović, Lolita Mikhailova, Jelena Rakočević and Petar Stijepović received the award for the best students. Zorica Đurović, an associate in English language teaching at the Faculty of Maritime Studies in Kotor, said that she was especially pleased to be promoted to Doctor of Linguistics today and pointed out that it was the crown of great work, but also great support from colleagues, especially mentors. "The current management of the University has recognized the role of teaching associates in the right way. So, everyone just needs to find something that will motivate them and persevere in that ", Ivanović said. On the occasion of the Day of the University of Montenegro, a concert of the Symphony Orchestra of the Music Academy of the University and members of the Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra will be held tomorrow at 8 pm on the Grand Stage of the Music Center of Montenegro.
