In Three Years, about 1.140 UMNE Researches are on Prestigious International Lists: FMS the First in the Number of Papers

University of Montenegro, even with a low number of staff in academic title, for the past three years upgraded its international recognition in global science community with about 1.140 published science papers in journals of global influence, from prestigious international lists SCI, SCIE, SSCI, A/HCI.

Papers are published in different scientific disciplines, and according to analysis of the list of published papers of the University 2020-2022, available on UMNE site, greatest number of papers comes from the Faculty of Science and Mathematics (163).

In technical and technological sciences, there is research that comes first published by researchers and scientists of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering UMNE, with total number of 103 papers.

Research of the Faculty of Medicine is also notable, which published 127 papers in the above-mentioned period.

In the matter of social sciences number of papers from the Faculty for Sports and Physical Education is 143, the Faculty of Economics 87 and Biotechnical Faculty 87. In humanistic sciences the Faculty of philology is notable with number of papers 70 published in prestigious lists.

According to Scopus citation base, covering all areas of science globally, only for the period 2020-2022, scientists of the University of Montenegro have been quoted for more than 100.000 times, while double more quoted according to Google Scholar base (201.993).

All statistical parameters for measuring science and research community of a university are, among others, directly dependent on its abundance and budget in its disposal. University of Montenegro, compared to universities in the region, has a small number of staff in academic title, about 450, and substantially lower budget, or double lower compared to the University in Split, which has similar scope in number of students, but with greater number of employees in academic title. Therefore, achieved results are certainly for every praise, and also drive for further steps in improving research in all scientific areas.

In the light of this aim, last year the Board for Strategic planning of development of science and arts has been established on the University of Montenegro. This Board defines and determines priorities, criteria and characteristics of incentive of development of science and art, as well as criteria for manner and awarding financial stimulus to extraordinary individuals and groups in the science community. These guidelines are submitted to the UMNE Senate, as highest academic body, to further decision making. This is to encourage greatest presence of scientists and researchers of all organizational units in global scientific community, hence increasing international reputation of the University of Montenegro.
