The first evening of FUNK Cinema brought together students and film enthusiasts who had the opportunity to enjoy screenings of the iconic films Lepa sela lepo gore and Parada, directed by Srđan Dragojević, at the Rectorate of the University of Montenegro.

Following a successful first night, FUNK Cinema continues tonight, October 22, with the screening of another Dragojević film – Mi nismo anđeli. The screening starts at 7:00 PM at the Rectorate of the University of Montenegro, followed by a conversation with the director, moderated by Bojana Šolaja. The discussion will focus on Dragojević’s body of work, the social themes woven into his films, and his ability to tackle complex societal issues through dark humor and satire.

Tonight’s film, Mi nismo anđeli, is a beloved 1992 comedy that won the hearts of audiences throughout the region. It tells an unforgettable story of love, youth, and misunderstandings, all imbued with Dragojević’s characteristic dark humor. Through its comedic situations and unique characters, the film explores universal themes of human relationships and stands as a generational icon for those who grew up in the former Yugoslavia.

This two-day program within FUNK Cinema offers a unique opportunity for students and the wider public to become more familiar with Srđan Dragojević’s work, whose films have won numerous awards and sparked reactions throughout the region. The film shown last night, Lepa sela lepo gore powerfully and emotionally portrays war traumas and divisions in the Balkans, while Parada addresses LGBT rights in a post-conflict society.

Admission to the event is free, but seating is limited.

FUNK Cinema is part of the Festival of Arts, Science, and Culture (FUNK), organized to mark the 50th anniversary of the University of Montenegro.
