FUNK Speaker Series on Saturday: The art of the mind – neuroplasticity of the brain

The FUNK Speaker Series event, "The Art of the Mind – Neuroplasticity of the Brain," will be held on Saturday, October 26, at 7:00 PM in the lobby of the technical faculties, as part of the Festival of Arts, Science, and Culture (FUNK).

The speakers at this event are Dr. Milovan Roganović, a medical doctor, and Anja Đurić, a clinical psychologist. The discussion will be moderated by Bojana Šolaja.

Neuroplasticity is a term that describes the brain’s ability to change and adapt throughout life. This ability means that the brain can reorganize its neural networks in response to new experiences, learning, circumstances, or injuries. Previously, it was believed that after a certain age, the brain became static and unchangeable. However, research has shown that neuroplasticity allows for the formation of new neural connections, strengthening of existing ones, or redirection of functions from damaged areas of the brain to healthy regions.

Neuroplasticity is crucial in processes such as learning new skills, recovering from strokes or injuries, adapting to new circumstances, and developing cognitive functions. This phenomenon demonstrates the brain’s flexibility and capacity for change, making it one of the most fascinating aspects of the human body.

The FUNK Speaker Series is designed as a platform for open dialogue on contemporary topics in science, art, and culture. Its aim is to bring together experts and audiences through interactive discussions that encourage the exchange of knowledge, creative thinking, and innovative approaches. The events are open to the public, and all interested parties are welcome to attend.
