The University of Montenegro Got Approved for Financing Three Projects within the Second Call Interreg- IPA CBC Program Croatia – Bosnia and Herzegovina – Montenegro 2014-2020




Joint Monitoring Committee Interreg - IPA Program of cross-border cooperation for Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro 2014-2020 is at meetings for selection of projects held in Sarajevo on October 29th and 30th 2019 approved financing one coordinator and two partner projects to the University of Montenegro within the second call for submitting project applications, As announced, the contracting phase will start soon and it will include approved projects for four priority axes. 

The University of Montenegro, Maritime Faculty Kotor will coordinate project named “Protecting underwater heritage through its digitalization and valorization as a novel touristic offer” (acronym: WRECKS4ALL). This project belongs to third priory axes PA3 (Contributing to the development of tourism and preserving cultural and natural heritage) and it will last for two years. Main goal of the project is through contemporary market methods to valorize tourist offer underwater cultural heritage of the Eastern Adriatic including cross-border cooperation, protection and promotion of ship wrecks and other unique elements of the mentioned cultural heritage. Next to coordinators, partner from Montenegro is Tourist Organization of the Municipality of Bar while other partners are Tourist Community of Herzegovina-Neretva Cantone from Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as Maritime Faculty of the University in Split and Croatia, maritime Museum Split from Croatia. Total proposed value of the project is 1.1 million euros, while budgeted amount for the Maritime Faculty Kotor is about 350.000 euros.

Institute for Sea Biology – Kotor of the University of Montenegro will participate as a partner institution on the project titled “Explore Cross-border Aquatic Biodiversity” (acronym: EXChAngE) that also belongs to third priority axes PA3. Coordinator of this project is the Institute for Sea and Coast of the University in Dubrovnik. Main goal of this project is to reinforce and diversify tourist offer through research of cross-border water biological diversity and to provide better management and sustainable utilization of cultural and natural heritage. This project is planned for Kotor to develop new tourist offer – tourist route Kotor and aquarium Boka. Total proposed value of the project is 2.1 million Euros while foreseen funds for the Institute for Sea Biology – Kotor about 410.000 euros.  

Medical Faculty of the University of Montenegro is in the consortium of approved project “Mobile Access Dental Clinic” (acronym: MADE) and belongs to first priority axes PA1 (Improving the quality of the services in public health and social care sector). Main goal of the project is establishing joint provision of preventive dental health protection in south Croatia, west Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. Joint Knowledge Center will be established for development of necessary preventive programs and capacities of primary health protection for early detection and intervention. Coordinator institution on this project is the Medical Faculty of the University in Split. Total proposed value of the project is 600.000 euros while planned amount of funds for the Medical Faculty is about 110.000 euros.   

In this call, 30 projects is approved for financing out of total 161 applied. The University of Montenegro once more proved that through continuous work and orientation towards international activities makes significant results in the number of approved project applications which influences on its recognition, not only in direct surrounding but in wider European community as well.
