Certificate for Academic Integrity Significant Achievement of the University of Montenegro

Rector of the University of Montenegro, Danilo Nikolic, PhD emphasized that the most significant activity achieved by the University of Montenegro with support of the Council of Europe is gained Certificate in the field of academic activity that was allocated to the University by Institute for Research and Action on Academic Fraud and Plagiarism in Geneva (IRFPA) at the end April.

He said that at the Final Conference of the ‘Strengthen Integrity and Combat Corruption in higher Education’ project implemented within the Horizontal Program for Western Balkans and Turkey, jointly financed by the Council of Europe and the European Union.

Rector Nikolic expressed gratitude to the Council of Europe as the strategic partner in the process of academic integrity promotion at the University of Montenegro, who recognized the significance of this topic for Montenegrin academic community and supported numerous projects and activities implemented in the previous period.

 ‘Participation of renowned experts from this field in activities of the UoM, trainings and study sojourns of Montenegrin researchers at prestigious European universities, contributed to internationalization and quality assurance of the overall process in a great extent’, Rector Nikolic said.

Support provided by the Council of Europe and draft strategy of the UoM that will, as the Rector stated, determine a long-term direction of the University development.

 ‘This accountable affair is based on detail analysis of all aspects of the University functioning and its development potentials, with significant external professional assistance, and should result by formulation of mission, vision, strategic aims and action plans for development of the University’, Rector Nikolic concludes.

Next to the Rector of the UoM, Director of the Quality Assurance Center, Sanja Pekovic, PhD, gave a speech at the Conference, as well as numerous national and international professionals in the field of academic integrity.

Efforts made in three previous years were highlighted at the Conference, all for the purpose of building better and healthier foundation for future academics of Montenegro and emphasizing the priority of strengthening integrity and combating corruption in higher education.
