Panel discussion on the real scope of youth inclusion in contemporary democratic processes and the impact of digitization on the labor market and studying
The Student Parliament of the University of Montenegro in cooperation with the Career Development Center of the University of Montenegro organised two panel discussions as an introduction of the 75th session of the Assembly of the European Students' Union (ESU), which will be held in Budva.
First panel discussion entitled "Real scope of inclusion of the youth of Montenegro in contemporary democratic processes" was held on November 12, in the Multimedia Room of the Sports and Cultural Center of the University of Montenegro. Speakers at the panel were: Mr. Nenad Koprivica, representative of the Ministry of Sports, Ms. Tamara Milić, representative of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Petar Komnenić, TV journalist of Daily "Vijesti" and Mr. Ivica Todorović, Manager of the Career Development Center.
The panelists spoke about their experience in working with young people and projects they have organised in order to strengthen their role in society.
During discussion of the legislation, Mr. Koprivica pointed out that young people recognise the issues of employment, education, culture, health care and activism as one of the highest importance, but also emphasized the lack of youth interest for inclusion in the process which results directly affect them.
Ms. Milić from the Ministry of Education pointed to the situation of vulnerable and marginalized groups and invited young people to show tolerance and respect for diversity.
Ivica Todorović from the Career Development Center said that, no matter what is often said in public about youth, the level of their inclusion in the democratic process is still not at a satisfactory and necessary level.
Journalist Petar Komnenić pointed to the lack of critical thinking among young people, and the need for change in order to get things better and young people in Montenegro see their future in their country.
Young people, students, entrepreneurs and activists during interesting discussions demonstrated a willness to contribute to a better environment for living in Montenegro, and called on the competent institutions, future employers and the media to recognize their efforts and engage them in their work in the future.
The second panel discussion entitled “Impact of digitization and new technologies on the labor market and studying” was held on November 15, in the Mediterranean Hall of the Faculty of Economics.
Speakers at the panel were: Boban Gledović from Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, Lora Davidovicć from HR partners and Nikolina Radulović on behalf of the Career Development Center of the University of Montenegro. They shared their insights to students as well as opportunities that new technologies provide them in order to improve themselves in areas that they were studying at the University.
These panel discussions were introduction to the topics that will be ongoing during the two-day seminar within the Assembly of the European Students' Union, which will be held from 25 November to 1 December 2018, in the hotel "Palas" in Petrovac.
Assembly of the European Students' Union is the largest student event, aimed at protection and promotion of student rights in Europe.
