National competition "Chinese Bridge" held

The Confucius Institute at the University of Montenegro is on Friday 06/07/2024. organized the national competition "Chinese Bridge", which took place in the Sports and Cultural Center of the UCG in Podgorica.
Interested visitors had the opportunity to follow the process in which the best pupils and students competed in the knowledge of Chinese language and culture, through speech, presentation of some of the talents related to the rich Chinese culture and coping with the quiz.
As the name of the competition itself says, the bridge is a place of meeting, connection, a place where cultures come together. We are always happy to encourage your creativity and desire to learn Chinese.
The competition was organized in three categories:
1. Primary school category - students up to 12 years old
2. Secondary school category - students from 13 to 18 years old
3. Students category - students from 18 to 30 years old
Themes of this years competition:
1st category of elementary schools - speech on the topic "Happy Chinese, joy and fun!"
2nd category of secondary schools - speech on the topic "Lets Pursue Chinese Dreams"
3rd category students - speech on the topic "One world, one family"
The members of the expert jury were:
1. Gao Qinglong - director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Montenegro with CSUST
2. Hua Liangwen – representative of the Embassy of the Republic of China in Montenegro
3. Mila Babović – translator from the Embassy of the Republic of China in Montenegro
4. Tang Zheguan - China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC)
5. Liu Chang - China Road and Bridge Corporation
The competition was enhanced by the presence of the deputy director of the Center for Language and Educational Cooperation at the Ministry of Education of China, Wei Jing, who congratulated her on the successful organization of another edition of the "Chinese Bridge". By the way, this Center from China is the organizer of the world competition in knowledge of the Chinese language and culture "Chinese Bridge".
The vice-rector for internationalization at UCG, prof. Dr. Sanja Peković, who pointed out that the Chinese Bridge national competition is an extremely important event for the promotion of the Chinese language and culture.
"In the preparation of this competition, the Confucius Institute provided all the necessary support to the participants, including preparatory courses, mentors, resources that help them to prepare for the competition as well as possible, so that each participant makes the most of his potential and achieves the best possible results. The competition is not only an opportunity for academic competition, but also for the promotion of cultural exchange and strengthening of friendship between Montenegro and China. Through the competition, participants gain a deep understanding of Chinese culture and develop intercultural skills that are valuable in everyday life. I believe that this competition will further motivate our students to dedicate themselves to learning the Chinese language and culture, that it will inspire them to strive for excellence and that it will provide them with a platform to show their talents and passion for the Chinese language and culture," said Peković.
On this occasion, the winner of last years "Chinese Bridge" competition, Alisa Bogdanović, shared her experience related to her stay in China.
"The so-called Chinese Olympics were held last year for the third time for students up to 14 years old, and I had the pleasure of being the first representative of Montenegro in that category. During the ten days I spent in China with Chinese language students from all over the world, I enjoyed numerous linguistic and cultural activities. The final competition took place on the last night when we performed our performances related to Chinese culture that we prepared and speeches on the topic of learning Chinese. "By sharing at least part of the impressions from the competition with you, I hope to inspire you to compete and do your best, because you will have great support from all of us," said Bogdanović.
At the end of the event, a five-member jury announced the winners, and the awards were presented by representatives of the University of Montenegro, Changsha University of Science and Technology, the Embassy of the Peoples Republic of China and the Center for Language Cooperation and Education.
