BIO-ICT participated at 8th IoT Summit in Brussels

BIO-ICT representatives participated at the 8th Annual Internet of Things European Summit in Brussels for two days of discussions, ideas sharing and networking, on 19 and 20 April 2017.

Hosted by Forum Europe, this year's IoT Summit explored IoT tech trends and critical policy issues. Security, privacy, data innovation, connectivity, as well as the impact of IoT on business models and Europe’s workforce will drive the debate.

IoT represents the synergy of the most advanced contemporary information and communications technologies that are expected to launch a global 4th technological revolution by implementing tens of billions of sensor nodes and generating revenue of several thousand billion euros by 2020. This technological concept will find application in all segments of society, from production to service. After just two years of BIO-ICT Centre’s development, Montenegrin experts have mastered this technology and have developed many competitive innovative solutions for the global marketplace.

Representatives of the BIO-ICT Centre of Excellence have taken the opportunity to discover the current and planned European policies in this field during the meetings with the representatives of the European Commission. Particular emphasis was put on the need for a higher degree of cybercrime protection, which is one of the strategic directions of the Centre’s further work. It was agreed that in  future cooperation our specialists would obtain timely and accurate information on the adopted IoT security regulation at European level.

As representatives of local self-government, regulatory bodies, business sector and academia participated at the gathering, researchers of the BIO-ICT Centre exchanged experiences and agreed to start cooperation and joint initiatives with the city administration of Barcelona, companies Inmarsat and Juniper Networks, as well as the French CNRS Institute Toulouse. Particular attention was drawn to the new BIO-ICT portal LiveGate (http://livegate.ac.me/), as well as the Centre's achievements in the application of software-defined network technologies in the implementation of energy-efficient, globally accessible, simple to use and favourably-priced IoT solutions.

This Summit is the leading dual policy and business focused IoT event in the region, with over 200 representatives from policy and business communities, in addition to 40+ speakers from EU institutions, multinationals, start-ups, press and academia. BIO-ICT representative at the IoT Summit were: Director Professor Igor Radusinović, Professor Milica Pejanović-Đurišić, Professor Božo Krstajić and young reserachers Slavica Tomović i Božidar Škrbić.
