Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Montenegro Organizes International Scientific Conference on Academic Integrity




The Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Montenegro organizes an international conference on academic integrity on the topic of Strengthening Academic Integrity - New Insights, November 16th-17th, 2020, at the University Sports and Cultural Center, Podgorica.

In recent years, the issue of academic integrity has become one of the most important issues in higher education internationally. The international scientific community has identified various forms of unethical behavior, which has become increasingly visible and frequent, as an increasingly relevant and internationally recognized problem.

It is about witnessing various forms of academic misconduct that are not easily understood from either a rational or ethical standpoint. For some researchers, publishing false information, falsifying results, plagiarizing or self-plagiarizing, while in a number of students, this is reflected in cheating on the exam or other forms of a wide range of unethical behavior.

Among the keynote speakers at this conference are Dr. Tricia Bertram Galant, Director of the Office of Academic Integrity at the University of California, Michel Bergada, Representative of the International Institute for Research and Action Against Academic Fraud and Plagiarism - University of Geneva, Dr. Sonja Bjelobaba, Lecturer at the Swedish University of Uppsala etc. Tomasz Foltinek, from the Czech Mendel University in Brno.

The conference is organized within the project Strengthening Academic Integrity - an Interdisciplinary Research Approach to Ethical Behavior in Higher Education, funded by the Ministry of Science of Montenegro.

Aim of this conference is to advance scientific knowledge of an interdisciplinary research-based approach that should facilitate the creation of innovative strategies to spread a culture of academic integrity, promote ethical behavior and prevent plagiarism and other unethical practices in the academic environment and beyond.

All interested researchers are invited to submit extended abstracts until June 15th 2020 on topics such as: Strategies for Promoting Academic Integrity in Higher Education; The role of academic integrity policy; Students 'and professors' perceptions of academic dishonesty in higher education; The motives / determinants of plagiarism and cheating behavior; The role of technology in preventing / facilitating plagiarism; Relation between moral / personal values ​​and academic integrity, Identifying contextual characteristics that influence academic dishonesty; Agreed cheating; Academic Integrity in an Online Learning Environment (Coronavirus Age), Academic Integrity Teaching / Learning, e.g. ethics, moral reasoning, academic writing, etc.; Innovative strategies for preventing non-academic behavior. Selected papers will be considered for publication in the special issues of one of the two journals indexed in Web of Science.  DETAILED APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS AND PUBLISHING OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE AT: https://www.sai.ucg.ac.me/call_for_papers.html  and in the document below.
