Development of Competences for Educators in the Cyber Security Field – ESDC Training April 9 – 11 on the University of Montenegro

At the University of Montenegro, sponsored by the European Security and Defence College (ESDC), with the University is a member, a training course will be held from April 9th to 11th, 2025, on topic “Cybersecurity Educator – Implementing Behavioural Science Perspectives to Improve Cybersecurity Awareness in Organizations.”
The training is organized in cooperation with two partner universities, Albstadt-Sigmaringen University (Germany) and Tallinn University of Technology (Estonia).

Participants in the course, who have been approved for attendance following a public call at the level of the EU and neighbouring countries, include representatives of universities, CIRT, state authorities, public energy companies, airports, police, and others.

The goal of this training is to strengthen capacities for conducting education, training, exercises, and evaluation in the field of cybersecurity and to enhance the profile of the “cyber educator” within organizations.
The course curriculum supports the “Cybersecurity Educator” profile (ECSF-7), as described in the European Cybersecurity Skills Framework (ECSF1), developed by the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA).

In this context, the course aims to provide up-to-date knowledge about cybersecurity culture, human capacities, knowledge and skills, including predictors of training success in the field of cybersecurity, based on behavioural sciences.
This includes measures for increasing participants’ motivation and commitment, time and economic opportunities for assessing individual cyber risks, perspectives on individualizing elements of cybersecurity training, and the conditions under which sustainable effects can be achieved.

This will help cybersecurity educators to follow and apply a systemic approach, evidence-based training development, focus on the target audience, principles of behaviour change, cooperation with stakeholders, evaluation and iteration, as well as sustainability aspects in mapping interventions, in order to develop effective cybersecurity training programs.
One of the topics of the training will be cybersecurity in maritime affairs.

Lecturers on the course will be renowned professors from abovementioned universities as well as ENIS lecturers.
