Biography - Paunović Marija

Marija Paunović was born on 28 August 1983 in Podgorica, where she finished primary school and the Gymnasium ‘Slobodan Škerović’. She studied at the Faculty of Law in Podgorica. In 2003, she enrolled in the Department of Russian Language and Literature at the Faculty of Philosophy in Nikšić, graduating with a GPA of 9.28. She defended her undergraduate thesis Impersonal Sentences in the Russian Language and Their Translation into Serbian on 8 October 2008 with the grade 10 (ten).
She completed her graduate studies, on the course of linguistics, with a GPA of 9.53, and defended her master thesis Adverbial Phraseological Units and Their Translation (Based on the Works of A.P. Chekhov), prepared under the supervision of Ana Pejanović, PhD, on 29 February 2012 with the grade A (ten).
Since September 2014, she has been a PhD student at the Faculty of Philology in Nikšić
After completing her studies, she first worked as an external associate at the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management in Kotor on the courses Russian Language I-VI, and since September 2010, as an assistant for the same group of courses. In 2012, she was appointed to the position of lector.
In the summer semester of the academic years 2010/11, 2011/12 and 2012/13, within the scope of the programme ‘A Semester Abroad’ (concluded between the University of Montenegro and the Russian State University of Trade and Economics), she gave lectures and held practical exercises on the course Montenegrin Language Basics for Russian students.
Since 1 March 2017, she has been employed at the Faculty of Philology in Nikšić.
Since 2009, she has been collaborating with the Examination Centre of Montenegro, where she works as an evaluator and test designer for graduation and professional exams.
Apart from her teaching and scientific work, she has been actively engaged in interpretation and translation. Since 2007, she has been working as a Russian language translator at the Centre for Foreign Languages ‘Double L’ in Podgorica, where she has participated, in the past 10 years, in the implementation of numerous projects which implied the interpretation, translation and proofreading of documents.
In November 2013, she was appointed as a permanent court interpreter for the Russian language.
She is a member of the Association of Teachers of Russian Language from Podgorica and the Association of Permanent Court Interpreters of Montenegro.
In addition to Russian, she speaks English and Italian.
