Biography - Žarić Nikola

Nikola Zaric was born in 1982 in Podgorica. Elementary and secondary school (Gymnasium "Slobodan Škerović" Natural Sciences), attended in Podgorica. He enrolled Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Podgorica in 2001, at the Department of Electronics, Telecommunications and Computer, where he graduated in 2005 with a grade 10. Post-graduate studies, Department of Computers, he enrolled in 2005/06 academic year at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Podgorica. All the exams passed with a grade of 10. He received his Master degree in December 2006, when he defended his masters thesis entitled "Procedures for the optimal detection of watermark" with a grade of 10.

He received PhD diploma with a thesis "Time-frequency distribution of the real and complex-time argument: hardware implementation and application in digital watermarking," in 2010. During doctoral studies he was staying at: Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, Bonn, Germany (2007), Institute National Polytechnique de Grenoble, Grenoble, France (2008 and 2009), and Villanova University, Philadelphia, United States of America (2010).

At the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Podgorica started working in October 2005, and as a teaching from the academic year 2006/2007. During this period, was performed by the calculation and laboratory  exercise courses: Electrical measurements, measurements in the electronics, digital electronics, Basics of electronics, digital signal processing, adaptive discrete systems and neural networks (Faculty of Electrical Enginnering in Podgorica), Informatics (in the political science in Podgorica), Fundamentals of business informatics, tourist information systems and Internet technologies (Faculty of tourism and Hotel Management in Kotor), Fundamentals of Computing, and Multimedia (at the Faculty of Maritime Studies), Fundamentals of Informatics (Faculty of Philosophy in Niksic).

Nikola Zaric has been entitled as Assistant Professor by the decision of the Senate of the University of Montenegro no. 08-1843 from 28.10.2010. for the courses: Digital Electronics (Electrical Engineering - undergraduate, Department of Energy and Automation), Multimedia systems (Electrical Engineering Faculty - specialist studies, Department of Electronics, Telecommunications and Computers), Fundamentals of Business Informatics (Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management - basic studies) and Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering (Mechanical Engineering). In addition to this, he participated in the lectures and exercises on the following disciplines: Faculty of Electrical Engineering: Fundamentals of Electronics (Undergraduate Studies - Department of Energy and Automation), Digital Electronics (Basic academic studies - Electronics, Telecommunications and Computers), Web Programming (Specialist Applied study - studies of applied computer science), Electrical measurements (Basic academic studies - Electronics. Telecommunications Computers - laboratory exercises), Electrical measurements (Bachelor studies - Department of Energy and Automation - laboratory exercises), measurements in electronics (Basic academic studies - Electronics, Telecommunications Computers - laboratory practice), Programming Language I (Basic applied studies - laboratory work), Mathematical packages (Basic applied studies - laboratory work), VHDL (Specialist applied Studies - laboratory practice); Faculty of Political Sciences (Podgorica): Information Technology (Basic academic studies - direction European Studies, Department of Social Policy and Social Work, Department Politikologija and International relations); Faculty of Maritime (Kotor): Information Technology in the Maritime (Basic academic studies - direction Nautica), Information Technology in Maritime (Specialized Academic Studies - Department of Maritime Science), Information Technology in Maritime (Specialist academic studies - Management); Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management (Kotor): Basics of Business Informatics (Bachelor studies - laboratory work), Fundamentals of tourist information system (Basic academic studies - laboratory work); Faculty of Philosophy (Nikšić): Introduction to Computer Science (Undergraduate studies - Department Pedagogy - lectures and exercises), Computer Science (Undergraduate studies - Sociology department - lectures and exercises), Computer Work (Bachelor studies - Philosophy department - lectures and exercises )

On the postion of Associate Professor at University of Montenegro, Nikola Zaric was entitled by the University of Montenegro Senate Decision from 27.10.2016. for the following disciplines: Introduction to Computer Science (Faculty of Philosophy Niksic - Basic studies - department Pedagogy), Computer Science (Faculty of Philosophy Niksic - Basic studies - Sociology department), Working with Computer Faculty of Philosophy Niksic - Basic studies - Philosophy department ) and Fundamentals of business informatics (Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management - Undergraduate studies - Tourism department).

In the period from January 2010 to September 2015 he served as public procurement officers at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.

He is a member of professional associations: Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), IEEE Signal Processing Society and the Center for young scientists at CANU (Montenegrin Academy of Science and Arts).

In April 2015 he was appointed as national contact point (NCP) at the Ministry of Science in the field of European Research Infrastructure in the new EU Framework Program for Research and Innovation Hirozont 2020.

He has received awards for innovation: Innovation award at the International Workshop on Innovation and Entrepreneurship (International Workshop on Innovation and Entrepreneurship IWIE) held in May 2015 in Aalborg, Denmark.

He is a member of the team that won first prize in the Open Ideas for Montenegro, with the application "Be Responsible". In cooperation with the Government and with the significant support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the UK Embassy in Montenegro, the application (Web portal www.budiodgovoran.me and Android and iOS applications) is currently used in the fight against the gray economy. "Be Responsible" won second prize in the international initiative of Open Government Partnership in the competition of the best projects from 33 countries, which promote the involvement of citizens in public policy.

He participated in the implementation of several national and international research projects, including: Fore-Mont FP7 project FP7 ewallet project and the project of the Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics BIO-ICT.

Nikola Zaric published 12 papers in leading international journals and more than 20 papers at national, regional and international conferences. He is co-author of three university textbooks.

He serves as a reviewer in several international journals, including the IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems-Part II, EURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, Elsevier Signal Processing, IET Image Processing, Computer Science and Information Systems, Wireless information Networks and Technical-Gazette.
