Biography - Perović Nina

Nina Perović (1985, Montenegro) completed her BA and specialist studies in composition at the Academy of Music in Cetinje, in the class of Professor Žarko Mirković. At the same time, she also acquired a BA and specialist degree in piano in the class of Professors Aleksandar Serdar and Vladimir Bochkariov. Thanks to a Basileus scholarship, she continued her studies of composition at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, in the class of Professor Uroš Rojko, where she obtained her MA degree. Three years later she recieved a PhD Degree at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade in class of Professor Srđan Hofman. She also completed Postgraduate study program of Composition at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, with Professor Klaus Lang as her supervisor.

She works as a Music Analaysis Teaching Assistant at the the Music Academy in Cetinje. She spent two months at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana as a Harmony course teaching assistant within Basileus scholarship for professional staff exchange program and one week at the Academy of Music in Zagreb as a guest professor within Erasmus scholarship. She was also invited to give a lecture on the Montenegrin music at the international festival Unicum in Ljubljana, as well as a number of lectures on the Serbian and Montenegreen composers at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana. She was also engaged as a researcher on a three year national project Identity Elements in Montenegrin Music as a base for development of interculturality, under the auspices of Ministry of Education.

Ms Perovic’s compositions have been performed in Austria, Italy, Germany, Hungary, Slovenia, Albania, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro at classical music festivals such as Unicum (Slovenia), Days of Mokranjac, Lasciar Vibrare (Serbia), Sarajevo Sonic Studio (Bosnia and Herzegovina), A Tempo, Kotor Art, International workshop for wind instruments, Espressivo (Montenegro), etc. in prestigious halls such as Marjan Kozina Hall (Ljubljana),  Ilija M. Kolarac Endowment (Belgrade), Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall (Zagreb), etc. She is also  writing music for theatre and music for children.

Ms Perovic has received numerous awards and honours, including an award Kompositions gestiftet Preis vom und Soziale Cultural Annehmlichkeiten Composition Fiddle at the 21st International Summer Academy Prague-Vienna-Budapest 2011. She has also attended various composition masterclasses and workshops (Donaueschingen, Impulse…), working with composers such as Peter Ablinger, Vinko Globokar, Beat Furrer, Georg Friedrich Haas, Enno Poppe, Dmitri Kourliandski and others.
