Biography - Glušica Rajka

Rajka (Bigovic) Glušica is a full professor of Linguistics at the Faculty of Philology at the University of Montenegro. She was born in Niksic, where she graduated with honors from the elementary and high school. Rajka graduated from the Serbo-Croatian language and literature of the Yugoslav people, at the Faculty of Philosophy in Niksic as valedictorian and earned a Masters degree (1988) and doctorate (1995) in the Science of Language at the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade.

She worked at the University of Poitiers (France) at the Slavonic Department as a lecturer and teacher of the Serbian langauge for four school years - from 1989 to 1993, and actively participated in the reform of the Montenegrin educational system, as a member of the Council for Curricula and coordinator for the native and foreign languages. Glusica was the head of the Department of the Serbian language and literature, from its establishment of a study program, as well as from the establishment of the Department of the Montenegrin Language and South Slavic literature at the Faculty of Philosophy. She was a vice-dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Vice-Rector of the University of Montenegro, as well. Since 2008, Glusica guided the work of the Institute of Language and Literature at the Faculty of Philosophy in Niksic. R.Glusica, also, was the vice president of the Council for Standardization of the Montenegrin language, as well as a member of the Jury for awarding state awards in the field of education Oktoih.

Rajka Glusica has been working as an editor-in chief of the magazine for the Study of Language and Literature Riječ, pulished by the Institute for Language and Literature at the Faculty of Philosophy as well as a reviewer in five international journals.

Glusica has been a member of the Organizing Committee of the International slavistic conference Njegoševi dani.

Following an appeal, Glusica was giving lectures at the University of Oslo - Institute for East European and Oriental languages,  Humboldt University of Berlin, University in Ljubljana, Novi Sad, Sarajevo and was a distinctive member of numerous committees for defense of doctoral dissertations in France and Croatia. She has been participating in important international conferences and projects in Montenegro, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Macedonia, Poland, Bulgaria, Austria, France. R. Glusica has published several books, textbook, scripts, over sixty scientific papers and numerous technical papers, articles, presentations and reviews. Research areas that she has been interested in are: language of the nineteenth century, modern BCHS language, Sociolinguistics, Linguo-Stylistics, General Linguistics and Linguistic theory.
