Biography - Kostić Nataša

Prof. dr Nataša Kostić is the first Full Professor in the field of English language and linguistics at the Faculty of Philology, University of Montenegro. She teaches English Morphology, Contemporary English Language, Contrastive Analysis and General Linguistics at the Faculty of Philology and Medical English at the Faculty of Medicine. She graduated from the Faculty of Philology, University of Belgrade, where she also took her MA and PhD in Linguistics. During doctoral studies she did her research work at the School of Linguistics and Applied Language Studies at the University of Reading in the UK. She has written two scientific monographs (Linguistic analysis of real conditional and Antonymy in discourse: a semanto-pragmatic analysis) and numerous articles published in monographs and international scientific journals, among which are those indexed in SSCI and A&HCI lists. She is a reviewer of two prestigious linguistics journals published by Elsevier: Language Sciences and Lingua. In 2015 she received Rector's award for the best scientific work in the field of social sciences and humanities at the University of Montenegro. Her fields of interest include syntax, cognitive semantics (conditionality and lexical-semantic relations), pragmatics, contrastive analysis and applied linguistics.

From 2010 to 2015 Dr Kostić was Vice dean for international relations and research at the Institute of Foreign Languages, University of Montenegro, and a member of the Senate's Council for Social Sciences and Humanities. She has participated in the following international projects: "Attitudes towards languages in Slovenia and Montenegro" (2006-2007), "Translation studies at universities in countries of former Yugoslavia" (2012-2013), HERIC MNE World Bank project "Reforming doctoral studies at the University of Montenegro" (2016-2017), Erasmus+ CBHE project “Reforming doctoral studies in Montenegro and Albania - good practice paradigm” (2018-2021), “Open EURAXESS - to strengthen the effectiveness and optimize the services of all partners in an innovative and open EURAXESS Network - EURAXESS TOP IV” (2019-2021) and Erasmus+ CBHE projekat “Fostering internationalization at Montenegrin HEIs through efficient strategic planning” (2019-2021). She is a former vice president of Montenegrin Society for Applied Linguistics, and a member of European Society for the Study of English (ESSE) and International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language (IATEFL). Dr Kostić is a member of the Senate and the Board for Doctoral Studies at the University of Montenegro. She is also a member of the Centre of Young Scientists of Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts. From September 2018 to December 2020 dr Kostić was Vice-Rector for International Relations at the University of Montenegro.
