Biography




Jovan Mihajlović was born in Kragujevac, where he completed his primary education at "Svetozar Marković" Elementary School and graduated with honors from the Second Kragujevac Gymnasium. He enrolled in geography studies at the Faculty of Geography, University of Belgrade, in the 2008/09 academic year, completing his undergraduate degree in less than four years as the top student in his class. He earned his Master’s degree in 2013 and was recognized as the best graduate of the geography program. He began his doctoral studies in the 2014/15 academic year and defended his PhD dissertation in climatology at the age of 29, again as the top student in his cohort.

To date, he has published over 20 scientific and professional papers in various fields of geosciences, including physical geography, climatology, and meteorology. He is proficient in using modern geostatistical software and programming languages. His main scientific interests include climatology and meteorology, as well as mathematical geography—particularly solar geometry and solving right-angled and oblique spherical triangles.

At the Faculty of Philosophy in Nikšić, he teaches regional geography courses: Geography of Eurasia: Socio-Geographic Features and Regions and Geography of Africa. In addition to Serbian, he speaks French, English, Spanish, and Greek.
