The Acting Rector of the University of Montenegro full prof. Vladimir Božović, PhD, with Vice-Rectors full prof. Irena Orović, PhD and full prof. Sanja Peković, PhD, received the British Ambassador to Montenegro Karen Maddox and the Director of the British Council Vanja Madžgalj, on the occasion of the existing and the establishment of broader cooperation between the University of Montenegro and scientific and educational institutions in the UK.

Rector Božović pointed out the good results of the previous scientific cooperation between our two countries, which resulted from the predominantly individual or cooperation of a group of the University of Montenegro researchers with their associates in Great Britain. However, bilateral cooperation at the level of institutions is not sufficiently developed, and therefore today's meeting to initiate and examine possible fields of cooperation in order to establish better bilateral cooperation. Vice-rectors Orović and Peković presented in more detail current international and scientific projects, as well as strategic directions for further development of international cooperation of the University of Montenegro with the aim of its internationalization. As preparations are underway for the accreditation of study programs in English, they appreciate that the involvement of the British Council would be of great importance, especially in terms of training for UCG lecturers to teach in English.

Ambassador Maddox supports the initiative of the University administration to establish better bilateral cooperation. He proposes to define priority areas, assess possible strategic partnerships, and then specifically establish institutional cooperation. He estimates that the opportunities for establishing better mobility will be greater after the programs in English are launched. Ms. Madžgalj presented the programs for learning English as a second foreign language, which are implemented with the support of the British Council, such as the School for the 21st Century project, which can be a good platform for further cooperation, and expressed readiness to participate in joint projects. This and similar projects can be part of the University's strategic activities in order to create the skills and competencies needed for the labor market.
