The Embassy of Bangladesh is open for cooperation with the University of Montenegro

The newly appointed Ambassador of Bangladesh to Montenegro HE Shameem Ahsan, whose residence is in Rome, Italy, met with the Rector of the University of Montenegro, Prof. Dr. Vladimir Bozovic, to discuss potential fields of cooperation that would bring closer the culture, history, and exchange of knowledge and practice of the two countries.

Rector Bozovic welcomed the interest and initiative of the Ambassador and pointed out potential models of cooperation with the Embassy, ​​presenting the University of Montenegro, together with the vice-rectors who participated in the meeting: Vice-Rector for Teaching Prof. Dr. Veselin Mićanović, Vice-Rector for Science Prof. Dr. Irena Orović and Vice-Rector for internationalization Prof. Dr. Sanja Pekovic.

Models of cooperation with countries inside and outside the European Union were presented at the meeting, either through Erasmus + and CEEPUS mobility programs or bilateral agreements, based on which cooperation, in addition to student and teacher mobility, may include participation in joint scientific and research projects. In the field of research, cooperation has been established with universities in the neighborhood of Bangladesh, with the Indian Institute of Science and the University of Agriculture and Natural Sciences in Sari, Iran.

It was also pointed out that at the University of Montenegro there is great interest in the doctoral study program in English - Sustainable Development, which enrolled the first generation this year, while accreditation of study programs in English in the coming period will open the possibility for candidates from abroad to study at the University of Montenegro.

Ambassador Ahsan pointed out that this year his country is celebrating 50 years of independence, and as a sign of that jubilee, the Embassy is ready to establish cooperation with one of the most comprehensive and oldest higher education institutions in Montenegro.

As the first step in establishing cooperation, Ambassador Ahsan announced his readiness to donate literature to the University of Montenegro. He also reminded that his country, although geographically distant, has a history of cooperation with Montenegro since it was part of the former Yugoslavia and that despite the geographical distance, the exchange of knowledge and positive practices can be mutually beneficial.
