Bridge2ERA2021 Funding Programme
Funding programme Integration of Central Eastern and South Eastern Europe countries into the European Research Area (Bridge2ERA2021) is a programme of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) of Germany which is to contribute to the objectives of the Federal Government related to the internationalization of education, science and research.
The objective of the programme is to bring together institutions from Germany and partners from Central Eastern Europe and South Eastern Europe on one side, and EU27 partners on the other side, contributing thus to better integration into European Research Area. The programme supports multilateral consortia for a period of two years for preparation of a joint project application within European research and innovation programmes such as: Horizon Europe, INTERREG or Eurostars.
Institutions from Germany: research institutions, universities and companies have the opportunity to apply for funding. Partners from Central and South-Eastern Europe and the EU27 cannot apply for BMBF funding, they contribute to the project application and possibly the funded project based on their own funding sources.
The main target countries of the program in the region of Central and Southeast Europe are:
- EU Member States: Bulgaria, Estonia, Greece, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic and Hungary;
- Official candidates for EU accession: Albania, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia and Serbia, as well as potential candidates for EU accession: Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo.
The project applicant submits the project proposal to the Project Management Agency - DLR Project Management Agency within the following deadlines: • February 28, 2022;• November 30, 2022;• September 27, 2023;• 31 May 2024 (last possible date for submission of project proposals under this call).
