The Rectors message to the Class of 2023/24: Great ideas know no boundaries, they conquer the world

Dear students of the class of 2023/24,

Welcome to the University of Montenegro.

Today, you are joining a community with the power to change the world, to shape the zeitgeist. At the University of Montenegro, we offer knowledge, the development of critical thinking skills, and the ignition of a passion for science. We leave up the rest to you.

We will strive to help you grow intellectually and academically with the best that this country has to offer. In addition to them, at our university, you will have the opportunity to hear from renowned academics from abroad, including Nobel laureates who are not uncommon guests at the University of Montenegro. We believe that in such a stimulating environment among exceptional individuals, you will develop the self-confidence to reach the highest heights. To overcome some of our limitations, even for a small country like Montenegro, great ideas are needed. We are convinced that such ideas for fundamental advancements can only be born among you.

For all of the above, for every success at the university and beyond, there is one key ingredient - perseverance. All the talents you possess are powerless without the strength of persistent and diligent work. Be demanding of your professors, but also of yourselves. Whenever you think youve reached your limit, there is always one more step, one that paves the way to extraordinary achievements.

And finally, despite the fact that in the age we live in, the foundations of society and the role of humanity within it are being questioned, do not forget Protagoras saying, "Man is the measure of all things." You are that measure, and you will remain so tomorrow, regardless of which technology occupies spaces that we considered exclusively ours until yesterday. Your character, your effort, and dedication will be the foundation for your journey to the stars.
