Invitation for Master of Advanced Studies in Medical Physics

The Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) and the University of Trieste in cooperation with the International Agency for Atomic Energy (IAEA), with support of the International Organization for Medical Physics (IOMP) and European Federation of Medical Physicians, announced a call for advanced two-year Master’s Programme in the area of Medical Physics, supported by International Organization for Medical Physics (IOMP).

The program will be realized in the period from 1st January 2022 until December 31st 2023. The first year of the Programme will be organized in Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics from Trieste while during the second year will be realized clinical training at the Department of Medical Physics of University hospital in Trieste. Teaching and training will be held in the English language. 

The programme is designed to provide young, promising graduates of physics or related fields (mainly from developing countries) so that they may be recognized as clinical medical physicists upon their return to their home countries.

Participants are required to work on a dissertation to be submitted and defended during the last month of the programme. The master's degree will be awarded by the University of Trieste only to those candidates who complete all examinations, clinical training, and other requirements. 

The minimum qualification for applicants is a degree equivalent to an MSc in physics or related fields. The selection of candidates will be based on their university performance, research activity and professional experience in the field. Adequate proficiency in English language is required. The Programme is open to young (generally below 30 years of age) qualified graduates from countries that are members of the United Nations, UNESCO or IAEA.

The Programme is open for Candidates below 30 years of age from countries that are members of the United Nations, UNESCO or IAEA, who graduated and acquired MSc in physics or related fields.

A certain number of candidates will be provided with a half or full scholarship. Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports do not provide financial support.
