Danilo Jeknic from the CI at UCG Took Part in the Final of “Chinese Bridge”
From July 2nd to 14th, Danilo Jeknic, who is the Chinese learner of the CI at UCG, went to China to participate in the final of the 17th Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students.
On July 3rd, Danilo Jeknic arrived in Beijing. He visited the headquarter of Confucius Institute with other players. He is so excited as he said, “Since I was a kid, I always dreamed about the Far East, about China. It was a very mysterious and special country for me and I was sure that one day I will visit this Asian country”. At the Chinese cultural experience center, he saw various kinds of musical instruments and national costumes that had been mentioned in books and was happy to participate in folk handicraft producing activity. The Chinese culture, once having appeared only in books, was first presented in front of him, which made him so excited.
Later, they visited the Tiananmen Square, the Imperial Palace and the Great Wall. Especially in the process of climbing the Great Wall, Danilo Jeknic excitedly said, “He who has never been to the Great Wall is not a true man, but today I am the hero.”
On July 6th, Danilo Jeknic went to Changsha to take part in the final competition. He was preparing actively for the competition and tried as far as possible to communicate with Chinese people to practice oral Chinese. Chinese people who know him all praised him for being a studious, modest and polite boy.
After completing the tense events during the day, Danilo Jeknic went outside to see the real Chinese life in the evening. He walked in Taiping Street which is the famous cultural street in Changsha. And he tried Changsha food such as stinky toufu and Changsha sausage. When drinking the milk tea, he admired, “it is really tasted”. In addition, he also visited CRBC company, Orange Isle, Du Fu River Pavilion and museums with all the players. Walking around the famous scenic spots in Changsha, Danilo Jeknic felt so happy.
Danilo Jeknic won the prize for excellent in the competition and was awarded the scholarship for a semester to study in China. Before going back to Montenegro, he said, “I feel really grateful, for that one of my childhood dreams has come true. China is magical, just as I imagined. There is still so much to explore but I will come back to experience it more deeply, I promise. Until then, I will work hard and be patient enough to make it come true.”
