Lidija Tomic, PhD

She was born in 1955 in Niksic where she completed Elementary School and the Gymnasium with excellent success. She is ''Certificate of Excellence" holder for excellent success and achieved results throughout schooling. She enrolled the studies of Serbian language and literature at the Department of Yougoslaw and general literature in 1973/4 and finished them in 1978 at the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade.

She finishes her Master studies with thesis defense named ''The Poetry of Slobodan Markovic" at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade. She was awarded "Velibor Gligoric" prize for her paper in 1985 for the best master paper defended during that academic year.

She earned her doctor's degree at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade with a disertation named "The Poetics of Miodrag Bulatovic" in 1998. A book called "A World of Grotesque of Miodrag Bulatovic" arose out of that doctoral disertation in 2005.

She has been working since 1984 as teaching assistant intern, teaching assistant, assistant professor, associate professor at the Department for Serbian language and literature at the Faculty of Philosophy in Niksic, University of Montenegro. Since September 2010 she works as a full professor. She lectures Medieval literature, Literature od the second half of the XX century and two special courses on XX century writers(Andric/Crnjanski i Borislav Pekic).

During the period of 1987 - 1990 she was a lector for Serbo-Croatian language at the Faculty of Philology at the University in Bordeaux in France(Université Michel de Montaigne, Bordeaux III).

She was twice a department chair of the Department for Serbian language of the Faculty of Philosophy in Niksic, 2002-2006 for the first time, and now since September 2011. She was a member of the Senate of the University of Montenegro from 2012-2016.

She published a great number of scientific and expert works and participated in the work of numerous scientific congresses, conferences and symposiums in our country and abroad.

She published her newest book called "A Way into the World of Prose" in 2010.

She is the member of Literature Comittee of MASA, the member of Matica srpska - Members Society in Montenegro, editor of "Oktoih" magazine.

She lives in Podgorica.
