Biography
Aleksandar Radunovic was born in 1971 in Cetinje. He graduated from Faculty of Dramatic Arts FDU Cetinje, department of dramaturgy. He completed his MA in Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade.
At the Faculty of Dramatic Arts - Cetinje, during the school year 2015/16 he worked with associate prof. Srđan Koljević, Film and TV scenario, then, during the school year 2016/17 with associate prof. Stevan Koprivica on the subject Dramaturgy and Dramaturgy - specialist studies, and during the school year 2017/18 he worked as a lecturer on the subject of the Basics of dramaturgy. He is currently working at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Cetinje where he works as an associate in Dramaturgy I and Dramaturgy specialized studies.
His dramatic text "Butterfly" (orig. „LEPTIR“ ) received the award for the best drama text at the Mit Festival, organized by the Royal Theater Zetski dom from Cetinje.
In April 2016, , produced by the Zetski dom Theater, Andras Urban directed the play "Butterfly" according to Aleksandar‘s dramatic text.
The same text was also set up in the National Theater in Sarajevo in February 2017, directed by Emir Kapetanović.
In October 2017, at the Biennial of Montenegrin Theater, the piece „Butterfly“ received six awards from a professional jury, of which Radunović received awards for the best drama text and for the authors music from the play „Butterfly“.
His dramatic text "Investigation" (orig. „Istraga“) was recommended by the expert jury on the CNPs (Montenegrtion National Theater) competition for the best drama text in 2014 for setting it on the stage.
At the beginning of March 2017, a part of "Investigation" was installed in the CNP, directed by Stefan Sablić.
The dramatic text "Night" (orig. „Noć“) was declared one of the three best texts dealing with tradition at the Europlays contest, and all three are scheduled for the stage. The premiere of this piece, directed by Andrej Cvetanovski, produced by Zetski dom from Cetinje, was held on September 14, 2017.
His dramatic text "Pillar of Salt" was staged in the Zetski dom, directed by Javor Gardev. The premiere took place in February 2024.
In 2021, the publishing house Fokalizator published a book containing his plays Butterfly, Investigation and Night. In 2024, the same publishing house published the book Pillar of Salt, which contains his play of the same name, which earlier that year was produced by the Royal Theater Zetski dom from Cetinje and directed by the Bulgarian director Javor Gardev.
The feature film "The Books of knjige - Cases of Justice" (orig. The Books of knjige –„ Slučajevi pravde“) , shot according to his script, in which he plays one of the main roles, was premiered at the Montenegro Film Festival in Herceg Novi, on August 5, 2017, and repeated on August 12, 2017. In the same year, the film was also shown at the Mojkovac Film Autumn and at the Festival in Mostar. The film was in regular cinema distribution in Montenegro, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina and was seen by some 50,000 viewers.
With the organization The Books of knjige, whose co-founder and permanent member, he has designed, produced and recorded a large number of television shows, TV sketches, TV and radio commercials, radio shows, travelogue reports in the past twenty years, and as the crown of the previous work, the realization of the feature as a film made in 2017.
He works as a screenwriter and co-writer on all The Books of knjige projects, and as a composer, arranger and guitarist in the Perper group, which has been one of the most successful in Montenegro for over twenty years. With colleagues from The Books of knjige from 1993 on the Podgorica Radio Antena M he presents one of the most listened shows in the region.
He has composed music for over twenty theater performances. He collaborated with relevant theater directors from the region, among them: Ivica Kuncevic, Dino Mustafic, Lidija Dedovic, Blagota Erakovic, Slobodan Djurovic, Snezana Trisic, Ana Vukotic, Veljko Micunovic and others.
With Perper, he released seven CDs, including The Books Of knjige one, and independently he released two albums of instrumental music.
With the The Books of knjige organization, he has been involved in the following activities:
Advertising and advertising campaigns
- A campaign aimed at conducting democratic elections (monitoring and control of the electoral process) in cooperation with the Center for Democratic Transition;
- Campaign to fight drug addiction in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance of the Government of Montenegro;
- A campaign to improve the collection of taxes "Take an account" („Uzmi račun“) in cooperation with the Directorate of Public Revenues of Montenegro;
- Campaign for the prevention of drug abuse in cooperation with the Government of Montenegro;
- "Mark your own" campaign („Obilježi svoje“) in cooperation with the Real Estate Administration of Montenegro;
- Campaign for the prevention of H1N1 influenza in cooperation with the Ministry of Health of the Government of Montenegro;
- Campaign for energy efficiency in cooperation with GTZ – The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit ;
- Further campaigns for the Montenegrin Commercial Bank;
- "Share the burden" („Podijelimo teret“), the Montenegrin Electric Power Company campaign.
- many other radio commercials and television commercials for Montenegrin and foreign companies
Performances, installations and video art
- Participation at the Cetinje Biennale in 1992, and 1993.
- Participation at the Venice Biennale, within the framework of the project of the Italian artistic troupe Mestre (1999)
- Participation in the project "Discovering Chain" („Lanac otkrivanja”) , with the installation of the „Hanging Gallows“ („Vješala“)
- Participation at the Herceg Novi Winter Salon;
- Participation on the days of Montenegrin culture in Sarajevo;
- Belgrade Festival "Crocodile" (Literary regional gathering against boredom and lethargy) (2010);
- Visiting numerous tribunes and artistic meetings in Montenegro and the region.
Awards
- Prize at the Festival of Humour and Satire "Vuko Bezarević" (Pljevlja, 2010).
- Special Award "Flame of Passion" (orig.„Plamen strasti“) in male competition in 2010, which is awarded for dedication and originality, as well as passion in the profession.
- "Butterfly", awarded for the best drama text at the Mit Festival, the Royal Theater Zetski dom, 2014
- "Butterfly" awarded for the best drama text and the best composed music for the title of the same name, at the most important festival of Montenegrin theater, the Biennale of the Montenegrin Theater, 2017.
- The dramatic text "Night" (orig. „Noć“) was declared one of the three best texts dealing with tradition at the Europlays contest.
- In 2010, as a member of the Perper Group, he received the 13th of July Prize, the most significant award of the city of Cetinje
He lives and works on Cetinje. Hes married and has two children.
