The best time for an Erasmus+ visit to Eszterházy Károly University in Eger, a small but charming city in northern Hungary, is at the very end of the academic year. During this time, the entire city comes alive for students. The streets are filled with music and performances, all dedicated to welcoming new students.

A large communication team at the University ensures the organization of various events and the promotion of university life. Established in 1774, Eszterházy Károly University has a tradition spanning more than 240 years and is today one of the most important educational centers in Hungary. With over 8,000 students, including more than 100 international students, the university offers a wealth of programs, from undergraduate to doctoral studies.

Throughout the year, Eszterházy Károly University organizes over 400 events, including national and international conferences, wine festivals such as the Eger Wine Meetup, sports meetings, and cultural activities that attract both students and tourists.

The university’s PR team, divided into several sectors, ensures smooth operations. These include the Communication Sector (Marketing and PR), Event Organization Sector, Design Sector, and the Liceum Television.

One of the university’s most intriguing features is Liceum Television, housed in a modern studio with professional technical and production resources. This studio not only serves educational purposes but also acts as a media outlet that has been broadcasting the universitys activities—cultural, academic, and sporting—for 21 years.

The university also has a Family Sector that supports work-life balance for its employees, organizing various family-friendly activities and events such as St. Nicholas Day celebrations, carnivals, Family Days, and summer camps.

Eszterházy Károly University also serves as a tourist attraction, offering afternoon tours to visitors with an entry ticket. Its impressive architecture spans several buildings, reflecting a combination of Baroque, Classical, and modern architectural styles.

In the main building, some halls resemble the interiors of cathedrals. One of the universitys most fascinating features is the dark room equipped with a camera obscura, allowing visitors to view landscapes up to 50 kilometers away through reflections with lenses and mirrors. This invention dates back to the universitys founding days.

The university also boasts its own special wine, a must-have gift for all visitors and guests of Eszterházy Károly University.
