Joint Study scholarships at the University of Klagenfurt

The Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt (AAU) invites applications for Joint Study scholarships for the winter semester 2025/26. These scholarships provide an excellent opportunity for students to spend a semester at AAU, enhancing their academic knowledge and cultural experience.
Scholarship details
- Monthly stipend: 650 EUR
- Duration: 4–5 months (5 months include an intensive German language course before classes begin)
- Class period: October 1, 2025 – January 31, 2026
- Scholarship period: Starting from September 2025 (if applicable) until the end of the semester
Scholarship recipients aiming to improve their language skills can attend a free intensive German language course in September 2025. The course is organized by the German Language Center and lasts for three weeks:
- Schedule: Monday–Thursday (08:00–12:15), Friday (08:00–11:30)
- Cost: 685 EUR (waived for scholarship recipients)
- Note: Course attendance is mandatory, and participants must successfully complete the program.
Application requirements and documents
Applications for the scholarship must be submitted via the MOBIS system, along with the following documents sent to **incoming.exchange@aau.at** by **February 15, 2025**:
- A motivation letter (following provided guidelines)
- A recommendation letter (following provided guidelines)
- Proof of English or German language proficiency at the B2 level (CEFR) (following provided guidelines)
Accommodation
Due to limited housing capacity in Klagenfurt, early nomination is strongly recommended. More information about accommodation is available on the universitys official website.
Obligations for scholarship recipients
Upon arrival in Klagenfurt, recipients must:
- Complete university registration and open an Austrian bank account (scholarship payments are made exclusively to Austrian accounts and may be delayed up to three weeks after submission of complete documentation).
- Earn at least 16 ECTS credits during the semester.
- Submit a copy of course registration and a progress report to the international office within a month of arrival.
After the exchange, recipients must provide:
- A copy of their transcript of records from AAU
- A two-page essay about their exchange experience
