As part of the activities of the International Relations and Mobility Office, the University of Montenegro organized a Montenegrin language course this semester for international students hosted by our University within the Erasmus+ mobility programme. The course was designed to provide students with basic knowledge of the Montenegrin language, while also introducing them to the cultural, historical, and social heritage of Montenegro.

The course brought together students from France, Italy, Poland, San Marino, Slovakia, Spain, and Turkey, and was additionally attended by MONTEB programme students, Fulbright scholars, and the U.S. lecturer from the Faculty of Economics. After two months of intensive work, 16 Erasmus+ students successfully completed the programme, gaining essential language skills needed for everyday communication during their stay in Montenegro.

The programme was delivered by Dr. Petar Božović from the Faculty of Philology, who, through dynamic and interactive classes, introduced students not only to linguistic structures but also to elements of Montenegrin tradition, identity, and way of life. The classes were held at the Rectorate of the University of Montenegro, in an environment that encouraged active participation, exchange of experiences, and mutual cooperation.

A particular value of the course was the interaction among students from various countries who, through collaborative learning, had the opportunity to forge new connections, exchange perspectives, and deepen their understanding of Montenegrin culture. Upon completion of the programme, participants were awarded certificates of attendance.

The organization of such courses reaffirms the University of Montenegro’s commitment to enhancing international mobility and strengthening intercultural dialogue, creating a welcoming and supportive environment for all students who choose Montenegro as their academic destination.
