Biography - Momčilović Nikola

Nikola Momčilović graduated from the Department of Naval Architecture in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Belgrade with his undergraduate thesis Ship structure analysis by finite element method. Starting in 2007, he worked in the Innovation Centre of the Faculty as a PhD student in the same department. In 2011 he was elected as a teaching assistant and in 2014 completed his thesis Strength modeling of orthotropic ship structure panels by equivalent unstiffened plates. Since 2015, he has been an assistant professor in Belgrade teaching courses such as Ship strength 1, Ship strength 2, Ship structure 1, Ship structure 2, and Ship design.

Momcilovic has spent time specializing his expertise in Italy (International Centre for Mechanical Sciences) and Austria (Via Donau). He is an author of a novel technical solution for the ship torsion analysis, a large number of papers published in national and international journals, as well as international conferences. Additionally, he is a reviewer of several journals in a field of naval architecture.

Apart from national projects, he has been involved in several international projects, including: COST - A pan-European Network for Marine Renewable Energy (Managing Committee member, 2017-2021),  NOVIMAR (NOVel Iwt and MARitime transport concepts) - Horizon 2020 R&I Programme Mobility for Growth Project for the European  Commission (2017-2021), Innovative Danube Vessel, EU Strategy for the Danube Region, Priority Area 1a - Mobility and Multimodality (2012-2013).

Momcilovic is a member of The Royal Institution of Naval Architects - RINA (MRINA member) and the Society of Naval Architects of Serbia (SNAS).
