Biography - Popović Nataša

Dr. Natasa Popovic Ph.D., M.D. is the Head of the Department of Medical Physiology and a family medicine physician. She was born in Novi Sad, where she finished elementary and high school. She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Novi Sad in 1998. After graduating, she continued education in the United States of America and earned her Master's degree in human nutrition, at the Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas in 2003. She received her Ph.D. in medical sciences at the Department of Medical Physiology Texas A&M Health Science Center in College Station, Texas in 2008. During her Ph.D. studies she was engaged in teaching physiology at the JAMP program (Joint Admission Medical Program), which prepares and supports students who qualify for the admission to at least one participating medical school. In the same period she worked as a mentor to students in molecular biology and vascular physiology labs. After graduating with a Ph.D., she continued to work as a postdoctoral research associate at the Department of Medical Physiology from 2008 to 2009 at Texas A&M.

In 2009 she was admitted to the Family Medicine Residency Program at Texas A&M Health Science Center. As a family medicine resident physician she worked at St. Joseph Hospital and Texas Medical Center. Following the completion of training in family medicine specialty, she worked as an urgent care physician at St. Joseph Hospital in College Station, Texas from 2012 to 2015. During that period she was closely engaged in mentoring and teaching the medical students in the area of community and family medicine at the Texas A&M Health Science Center. For that work she was awarded Teacher of the Year (Preceptor/Teacher of the Year 2013-2014 O.C. Cooper Preceptorship), which is given to clinical professors on the basis of students' evaluations.

In 2015, Dr. Natasa Popovic was elected for the Assistant professor at the Faculty of Medicine in Podgorica and the Head of the Department of Medical Physiology. She currently teaches physiology in several study programs that are integral parts of Faculty of Medicine.
