Biography -  MD, PhD Jakšić Marina

MD, PhD Marina Jaksic was born on October 28th 1985 in Zadar, Republic of Croatia. She completed primary and secondary school in Bar with honors and holds “Luca” diploma.

She enrolled at the Faculty of Medicine in Podgorica, University of Montenegro, in 2004 and graduated in 2010 with an average grade 9.31, whereby she received a Medical Doctor degree. Since 2011 until today she has been employed at the Faculty of Medicine in Podgorica as a Teaching Assistant for Pathological Physiology and Laboratory Medicine Course. Since 2012, she has been employed at the Center for Clinical and Laboratory Diagnosis of the Clinical Center of Montenegro (KCCG) as Clinical Doctor for Biochemistry and  Clinical Biochemistry Resident afterwards; since 2022 she has been working as Clinical Biochemistry specialist at the Institute for Children`s Diseases of the Clinical Center of Montenegro.

In 2010, she enrolled at postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Medicine in Podgorica and in 2015 she defended the initial research (equivalent to masters studies) titled "Research on the state of nutrition (obesity and malnutrition) of school-age children in Podgorica - clinical, pathophysiological and epidemiological aspects".

She defended her doctoral thesis entitled "Inflammation, oxidative stress and metabolic syndrome in preobese and obese children in Montenegro" in January 2022 at the Medical Faculty, University of Montenegro; mentor prof. dr Milica Martinovic.

As a student of undergraduate studies she was awarded the scholarship of Municipality of Bar and she received scholarship of the Republic of Montenegro in the period from 2004 to 2010. In 2009 she received "ZAMTES" Award, which is awarded to the best students of University of Montenegro by Department of International Scientific, Educational, Cultural and Technical Cooperation of the Government of Montenegro.

Within The Central European Exchange Program for University Studies (CEEPUS), as doctoral candidate, she was in study visits at Transylvania University in Brasov, Romania in October 2011, as well as at University of Medicine of Warsaw, Poland in July 2013.

In the period from 2012 to 2015 she took part in Montenegrin scientific research project titled "Research on Obesity and Poverty of Children in Montenegro - Clinical, Pathophysiological, Biochemical and Preventive Aspects".

In the period from 2015 to 2016, she took part in bilateral scientific-research Montenegrin-Croatian project titled "Comparative Study on the Impact of Poverty on Malnutrition, Dietary and Lifestyle Habits of School Children in the Cities of Podgorica and Osijek".

She is a member of Montenegrin Association of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (MACC), and European Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (EFLM). She holds an active EuSpLM (European Specialist in Laboratory Medicine) certificate. Currently, she holds the position of the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC) Task Force for Young Scientists (TF-YS) corresponding member on behalf of the MACC.

She is the author or co-author of a number of scientific papers published in journals that are indexed in international citation databases.
