  The Interview with Professor Xie Jijun from the Media in Montenegro

   Local time on 7th May, Montenegrin national TV station RTCG and local newspaper Pobjeda conducted interviews with Professor Xie Jijunin the exhibition hall.

The interview was carried out around the upcoming calligraphy exhibition with the theme “Mirisi kaligrafije na putu Svile: Izabrane Savremene Kineske Kaligrafije i slikari”. The reporter asked first about the benefits fromChinese calligraphy learning and appreciating. Professor Xie Jijun said, first of all, Chinese calligraphy is an important part of Chinese culture for thousands of years.

Chinese calligraphy has become one of the most unique characters in all languages because of its practical and aesthetic values. Secondly, Chinese calligraphy learning and appreciating are good for health care. Most calligraphers have lived a long life since the Han Dynasty. In ancient China, the average life expectancy of people was 25-40 years old, while calligraphers normally lived to be over 80 years old.

Moreover, Chinese calligraphy is a kind of silent music and sculpture on paper. It is the spiritual expression of calligraphers. The process of calligraphy creating is also a process of appreciating, and the two are carried out alternately. Chinese calligraphy learning and appreciating are conducive to aesthetic and thinking, improving and enriching people’s spiritual life as well.

When it came to the relationship between Chinese calligraphy which belongs to a kind of traditional art and contemporary art, Professor Xie Jijun emphasized that excellent traditional culture is the representative of our national characteristics and spirit. It is the nourishment for the continuous development of China and has a guiding significance to our thoughts, actions, and cultural development. Chinese calligraphy is a part of the excellent traditional culture. The traditional culture is a vital link to the contemporary culture, which makes the contemporary culture full of vitality.

Professor Xie Jiyun is the national level artist, the member of Chinese Calligraphers Association, and the member of Sichuan Research Institute of Culture and History. His works have been collected by President of International Olympic Committee, Prime Minister of Singapore, President of Republic of Korea, and President of Mozambique, etc..And his work is collected by MuzejiiGalerijePodgarica this time.
